Q: Yesterday Home Capital reported Diluted EPS of $1.36 and Adjusted Diluted EPS of $1.06. The analysts had a target EPS of $1.04. How do we know which EPS figure the analyst projection is referring to-the diluted or the adjusted diluted figure. Thank you and the team for all you do. Ian

Q: Hi Peter
Rejigging and adding today to non financial/utility/resource
1. About to add to Trimac,my transportation ,not a large holding...is it still better than Transforce or should I switch?
2. KBL has been great but dividend now lower than ADW, which I saw you think has unrecorded equity. would you switch KBL for ADW
3. Big loss on AIM so far......will it recover or would you dump it in favour of adding to stocks like XSR,DH,CGX,PKI?
thanks for all you do

Q: Hello,
I did very well with PHM. The CEO Michael Dalsin is starting a new company called Convalo. It was originally a resource company called Valiant Minerals (VTM) but as of next week will be trading as Convalo under the symbol CXV. They will be running substance abuse clinics which are now covered by health care insurance in the U.S.
Can you explain how a mineral company becomes a health company? Also is it a good idea to buy when it starts trading next week, or should I wait to see how it does? I've never bought into something like this. What are the risks?
Thanks,
Carla

Q: I am considering opening up an information trust account for my 9 year old. He has 'savings' from gifts of around 5k that we have been keeping for him. To get him comfortable in the market, I thought it would be fun to start an account for him. However, I am unsure how well I could diversify only 5k. That got me thinking about buying holding type companies and splitting the money the best I can among them. I have been thinking about BAM.A, FFF, MRC, OCX. Are there any others that would fit this criteria? I'm primarily looking at TSX traded stocks for simplicity. Do you think this is a good approach or would you just buy "single" companies? Thanks in advance - I value your advice!
Q: Hello Team
Could I get your analysis on this company. It seems to be a dominant player in the GPU sector and poised to get stronger as the car industry ramps up more autonomous features in their cars. It pays a small dividend has a pe of approx 28 and had some good results from its last qtr.
Thanks

Q: Sanderson farms (SAFM.us) has been taking a beating for about 2 months, and stocks shorted ,as percentage of float, are sky high. It is hard to see why. (For some bizarre reason, our hospital doesn’t supply Bloomberg terminals in the OR.)
In early December SAFM was selected for the “stock superstar portfolio ” suggested by AAII.com, a service that is generally diligent. AAII selected SAFM when it was trading at US$95 ; its price today is $75. I am tempted to add to my modest position.
I have flipped through various analysts’ reports and found nothing alarming. Most biz reports on SAFM tend to be positive. SAFM is a domestic US entity and is not hostage to Forex fluctuations. Health professional colleagues of mine are not aware of any public health issue or any regulatory problem at this company. I don’t know why there would be so many shorts on this beleaguered little company. If you are able to unravel this mystery and enlighten 5i members , we would be very thankful.
I see no valid reason for such a sharp price decline. But then nothing is obvious to an oblivious one like me.

Q: Which one of these technology stocks do you feel has the greater opportunity for capital appreciation over the next 3 -6 month period. Could not decide so I chose to purchase shares in both ... Thank you for your valued opinion.
Q: Dear Sirs,
Looking for your thoughts on Primero - it recently came to market with a 5 year US pay debenture(5.75%)and subsequently has traded down from the $5.80 area, where the debenture has begun trading in the low 90's. Any reason for the steep decline and do the debentures represent value at these levels?
With thanks,
B
