Q: CSU makes up 7.2 percent of my portfolio. My other tech holdings are a minuscule amt of ET, and a little less than 2 percent MDA. Would I be better served by reducing my CSU(held in TFSA) and adding to the other 2? Are there other tech stocks that would work better? I'm retired, but don't yet need $ from investments. On the other hand, I'm loath to lose any!

Q: I own both these IT companies and both are below my full position of 4%. Which one would you choose to add to at this time. I am a long term investor, to be perfectly honest I tend to marry my stocks and am reluctant to give up hope. I still own MCR Macro Enterprises. Could you also advise me on if there is any hope for this stock if there is an energy recovery. Thank you for your service.

Q: Hello,

I am thinking about selling my DOL position and moving into MDA. I have held DOL for a while with no traction. I feel the upside could be $5.00 per share, but the downside could be sizable with any earnings miss, etc. There appears to be better analyst price appreciation with MDA, and with the new acquisition for the imaging company it could play into US defense commencements?? Any comments on this thought process would be great. Thank you.

Q: Greetings, Peter and Co.
I have been trying to evaluate the MacDonald Dettwiler-Digital Globe merger. The termination fee arrangements appear to be compelling for Digital Globe and punitive for MDA. The SEDAR filing appears to require a much larger break fee for MDA and there appear to be many events that could trigger the $150 million break fee.
Can you clarify if this agreement is as bad as I interpret it to be?
My family and I are MDA investors and were considering adding to our holdings.
With appreciation
Ed

Q: Hi,

I previously owned MDA and sold for a small loss, but am increasingly interested in getting back in. My question is about MDA's ability/experience/success integrating take overs. I understand they took over another US company a number of years ago. Could you tell me how big that was ($$ terms) and how successful, in your opinion, they've been in integrating the company?

Thanks,

Cam

Q: I am negative on MDA but not greatly so. MDA represents 2.3% weighting in my portfolio. I have owned MDA for years - likely from when you first reported on the stock so I guess you might call me a patient investor.

I believe you are against averaging down and you seem to be suggesting a share issue is likely. Right now MDA seems to be yielding 2.25%. Three questions...
1) Looking into your crystal ball do you think the dividend is safe?
2) Do you think the probability of the share dilution is priced into the current share price?
3) I am thinking of buying more shares now to increase my weighting to 3.3%. Should I wait until the new shares are issued?
Thanks
Jim

Q: MDA has dropped a lot in the last few days due to a takeover that has not been well received by the market. Is it time to sell MDA and move on, or is the drop overblown and time to add to an existing position?

Although much much smaller than MDA, what is your opinion of MAL as an investment in the aero and defence sector.

Q: Hello,

I am looking for a Canadian company that might get a boost from Cdn Defence spending due to US asking NATO members to spend more on defence.

I believe HRX has some defence exposure (although it appears by the stock price that it missed revenues?) Are there any others? Any you would suggest as a decent investment, as is, without increased spending? Please list them in preference.

Thank you,

Gerald

Q: Good Day, I own these three in the same portfolio. would like to diversify, what would be your top two choices for a long term hold?
Have been considering MG or CTC or L as possible replacements, what would be your top choice between these. Thanks, Lavern

Q: Happy New Year to everyone, lets hope for a profitable 2017.
I have chosen a 15% weighting for my IT stocks. I own 4% of CSU, 3.7% of ENGH, 2.2% of MDA and 3% in OTEX-N. I'm underweight but unsure which stock to add to. I always appreciate your advice, thank you for all you do.

Q: Hi Peter & team, my question is about the MDA company report of September 2016. At the bottom of the report there is a chart where it says "14D Relative Strength Index (RSI) of MACDONALD DETTWILER". Could you explain what RSI is? According to the chart the RSI was at about 30 on September 29th, is that good? For any given company, is it better to have a higher or a lower RSI? Suggestion: a short Webinar on how to read 5i company reports, specially the charts and tables at the bottom of each report. I greatly appreciate your good service, Gervais
