Q: Hello Team 5i,
I have a colleague who is just starting to put some money back into an RRSP account that he had emptied out to buy his house. For now, he has 1000 dollars in it and I promised him I would ask your advice for how he should invest it. He does not expect to touch this money and whatever else he puts in there in the future for at least 25 to 30 years. He would like to take a growth strategy. What do you suggest for him? Thank you in advance for your help.
Bashir

Q: What are your thoughts regarding Equity Financial's (EQI's) news release today? The news that mortgage portfolio growth will be "nominal"/flat in 2014 is quite negative, is it not? Is it your view that the negative impact of this news will be offset by Smoothwater buying up the shares?

Q: I established my equity positions over the last two weeks. I am a conservative growth investor. My holdings are 50% ZLB and the balance equal weights of XGD,STN,BAD,CNR,SLF,T,CGX,BYD,ESL,AVO and AYA.Does the portfolio fit my profile? I am retired and the equities make up 30% of my total investments. Would you suggest any changes? Thank you so much, Rick

Q: Hi Peter and team,
Re Surge SGY:
In my experience a dividend above 7 to 7.5% can be a bit of a warning flag.
I am puzzled as to why a smallish growth company, SGY, has the dividend as high as it is (8.6% I believe).
Can you clarify this, and give your assessment of the risk level of this company. I am considering taking a position representing 6% of my portfolio in it, in the context of a well balanced portfolio.
Thanks,
Mike

Q: I bought Ithica Energy (IAE)two years ago but it hasn't done much. It makes up 7% of my portfolio and I am worried about it's prospects going forward. Should I continue to hold it or would it be better to sell?

Q: re: Aurora Spine Corp ASG - Venture... this company appears to be on the verge of making an impact on non-invasive spinal surgery. Management appears to be solid, they recently received FDA Approval on advanced technology, and have just hired Mike Keegan as VP of sales who is coming over from a competitor and has a very good track record. Can you please tell me what expectations you might have for this company in the coming years?

Q: I own a 2.5% weighting inside an RSP of ZUB (CDN Hedged) and have enjoyed a 25% gain to date. I see BMO has introduced a New non CDN hedged ETF named ZBK covering the same equal weight US banks.

Would you recommend selling the ZUB to buy the new ZBK ETF?
I'm assuming for the next 12 months Canada will see a 90 cent dollar to the US.
Thanks in advance. Greg.
