Q: Hi Peter & Team
I hold CIC since inception which pays a good
dividend. However; I have not been able to get
information re fees, etc.
Please give me your take on this fund.
Is it worth holding on? I have small weighting.
THANKS AS ALWAYS FOR YOUR GREAT SERVICE!
Patty
Q: Your thoughts on POT buying into the Brazilian co. Heringer. Do you think acquiring 9.5% guarantees that Heringer purchases POT's potash. Pot's share price dropped on the news, is this of no consequence. Thx Gerry
What are your thoughts on CRH at current levels? Stock has finally corrected after going straight up like a stick. Stock seems relatively cheap (compared to other health care cos.) at around ~8x ev/ebitda. Company seems to have two fantastic business segments with the ability to grow accretively via a roll up strategy. Would you recommend buying more shares at the current level? Have you ever met management or have a view on them? I'm debating whether to add more Intertain or CRH to my portfolio currently. thx
Q: I came across AET.UN. I went over some of the answers/comments provided by this site to questions asked by members over the years. To your credit, you "never really liked the company" but I noticed there was really no strong sell conviction (I know you don't use the term, but you understand) when there certainly was enough evidence things were going terribly. Price action/money flow is the ultimate fundamental. A lot of us were sandbagged especially because of "chasing yield" or Eric Tremblay's record at Enerplus. Any lessons? What checks and balances exist at 5i to ensure minimizing this sort of implosion.
Q: Hello, I'm trying to pick up the remainder of the company's that I don't have from the Model Portfolio. The ones I still need are: DSG, ESL, FSV, MG & SLF.
With the exception of SLF, these companies are at or near their 52 week highs; so should I wait for a bit of a pull back, before I pick them up? And what about SLF, should I wait to hear about interest rates to increase before jumping in?
I'm also a little hesitant to grab anything at this time in anticipation of your new portfolio that is soon to come out. Any firm dates for that?
I know market timing is difficult or impossible to predict, but any advice would be appreciated.
Q: Hi 5i team,
How do we estimate present value of CPP & OAS? I roughly use $100,000 for each $500 monthly income based on typical annuity from insurance companies. Is this okay or should we use a PV formula? Thanks
Q: PNP seems to have found new life after Mr Inwentash has departed.
Can you say why this uptick has started? Is it because Mr I has stopped removing so much money for himself so the stockholders can now finally benefit?
Or is new management now finally looking after the store? Any prognosis?
Q: Your expert opinion on the Q4 results of AVO released today, & Hold,Buy or Sell.I have a small holding bought @ $25.25 in 8/14.Appreciate your usual great advice & opinion
Q: Hi,
Mart Resources has an offer of .80 a share on the table. I currently own over 10, 000 shares at .99 and the share price hasn't moved much today. Would it be wise to buy more to try to lower my share price to minimize my loses?
Q: just confirm what i am saying your upcoming growth portfolio will be released around april 1, will contain 25 stocks and will not i repeat not be equal weighted.
and my second point is a question, what is your cutoff of a companies market cap to be included or is it openended.
and lastly just a comment i think the interest from your membership is huge and i think most people will try and cherry pick it. dave
Q: A secondary bought-deal offering of PZA shares has just been announced, priced at $15.00. Is this worth purchasing in your opinion (considering that there is no share diilution) ? Thanks.
Q: Just a question/suggestion about your upcoming growth portfolio.
Because I already have your model portfolio, indexes and bonds, I won't be able to buy all 25 stocks when you release your portfolio in March. I can probably buy about ten stocks and then will buy the rest over time. I assume others will be in the same position. The problem them becomes which ones to pick in which order. When you publish the portfolio would you be willing to include a ranking or suggest the order they should be bought in?
Read an article this morning in the Globe & Mail stating that
"Unfortunately the serenity has been shattered and the reading of the fourth-quarter results on March 5, 2015 will be an entirely different experience. Analysts from Raymond James and National Bank Financial cut their target prices in early February which put another warning flag on the track."
It goes on to explain the dividend may be in danger and, there doesn't appear to be any stopping this down trend.
I have a small position which is down about 50%. I am thinking about selling now prior to the report and taking the loss - my first ever - as I don't see the downtrend stopping any time soon.
What is your advise at this point, and what do you think we can expect on March 5?
Q: I hold 25% of my RRSP's in PH&N bond fund D. I am wondering if I should sell it and replacing it with CBO CLF or XCB. There are no loads to consider as I have held this fund for several years. My concern is rising interest rates over time plus the cost of managing funds.
Q: I am still holding WJX despite a 35% drop (since original purchase) in share price, because I remain of the opinion that it is a well-managed company.
Even this morning's release of financial results seems to bear out that management is doing their job OK in tough times. And maybe even going forward?
BUT . . . Is the drastic dividend policy change a significant enough factor to make it worth dumping my holdings, in your opinion?
Context: WJX is about 4% of my equity holdings, & my holding period is anticipated to be 3-5 years, maybe longer, & I rely on dividend reinvestment as a significant part of my strategy.
Thanks
