Q: Bought some Royal bank of Scotland, I am a value investor, but with the announcement by gov of England talking about good bank/bad bank I assume this will reduce the book value of rbs. I realize it isn't a 5 star company maybe not even a 2 but neither was AIG after 2008. What are your thoughts on this latest news and rbs in general?
Q: What do you think of transat. I purchased some years ago at $5 due to your recommendation and now I'm unsure whether I should completely sell out or continue to hold, do you still cover the stock and what are your thoughts regarding its future prospects ?
Q: Hi team,
I'm looking to consolidate some of my positions to reduce the number of stocks held across 3 accounts. I have 3 US stocks in my LIRA - Apple (AAPL), Cooper (COO) and Mosaic (MOS). I realize they are all very different companies, but if I was to sell 1 to buy more of the other 2, how would you rank them?
Thanks again! Ian
Q: Hi, a question regarding Andrew Peller. I purchased it recently and have some concerns as to how the Canada/European free trade agreement could affect the future business of adw. After all, every wine drinker must be looking forward to more and possibly cheaper imported European wines. On the other hand, could this open up more export opportunities for adw? I am not a wine expert but I can't imagine Europeans looking forward to having more Canadian wine available. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated as always. Thank you.
Q: I read the past answers on LIM, I wonder if you can comment on iron ore prices going forward and is there anyone you like in the space? I may decide to swallow the loss on LIM and make a move in the same space.
Q: Hi peter, what are your thoughts on CAT ahead of earnings? Any recent news that may indicate that it will beat earnings? Should I consider selling at the current price?
Wanted to get your thoughts on Counsel Corp (CXS). I should have bought it when i first heard of the company at 1.80, but missed the boat. Do you think the company is a buy at current levels? Are you bullish on the sector? Would you buy at current levels, or wait for a pull back? Do you like management?
Q: I took a position in Equity Financial a while back and was up about 12% before the departure of an executive. I invested in EQI partly because I had missed the boat on HCG at about the $55 dollar mark after the shorting noise. Now I'm about at break even on EQI and wondering what to do. I liked the growth potential of EQI and the fact that you liked management, and I liked the bargain price of HCG at $55. Should I sell EQI and look at Counsel CXS, perhaps, or maybe Wi-Lan is turning the corner? You will probably say I should go with HGC, but it is hard for me to pay $77 for a stock I could have had at $53.(Maybe I should just get over that missed opportunity.) I am mainly after growth at a bargain (don't need a dividend) in any sector. Maybe RKN Redknee? I currently have a pretty good replica of the model portfolio. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you, for a service that is so good that I can't believe it exists. So glad to say good-bye to my broker.
Q: ZED - Zedi I was checking up on ZED and noticed a few thousand shares bought by Pershing but not nearly as much as Raymond James. Might this be a catalyst for getting attention?
