Q: re cfn....If interest rates go up, does this hurt or help with profitability? In the world of banking and finance I find that this is quite specific to individual companies.

Q: Hi
Is now a good time to take an initial position in BIP.un.
Would this company be expected to perform better than a reit over the next few years if interest rates increase. Thanks

Q: I currently hold shares in Coastal Energy (CEN). It just agreed to a $19 a share merger with Compaņia Espaņola de Petroleos. Would this be a good time to sell or would it be better to hold on for a higher share price when the deal is completed in 2014?
Q: Thanks for the good advice on keeping AAH after the merger was announced. Should I still hold AAH or better to go with with Mnw? When does the sale close?
Q: Currently holding a portfolio consisting of TSX stock's, except for ITB in the US, I have 50k of new money to invest for a 15 year time frame - a LIRA account. With markets not cheap, I'm unsure where and when to park the moeny?

Q: Hi,
I need your advice on this. At the current price of 8.72 per MNW share, AAH should be worth (6.52/0.957 cash + 3.6 MNW Shares * 8.72) $38.2 but it is trading at $37.05. Also if I hold 200 MNW shares for total cost of $1,744 and the price goes to $12 I will have $2400 or 37.6% gain but If I hold AAH instead, for the same $1,744 I get 47.07 shares which at the $12 MNW price would be worth $2,353 or a gain of 34.9%. Based on this after a certain price of MNW shares, it is better to hold MNW instead of AAH. Do you agree?

Q: We own shares of Linamar[LNR] . Their recent report of 15% sales increase and 53% earnings increase sent the stock soaring. Do you think we should continue to hold or take profits[ a TFSA holding]. We are up 24%. Your comments are greatly appreciated .
Q: With Sears SCC just having announced a special $5 dividend, would it not be a good time to buy at least for the short term? Any pitfalls that I'm not aware of?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Of the two which would you recommend..POW or SLF? Thanks

Q: Market strategy
With big name investors like Carl Icahn predicting big drops in the market, I am getting a bit nervous.
What is your perspective on the current state of the markets? Would you be inclined to go to a higher cash position. If yes, would you sell specific sectors or more generally across the board.
My investor profile is more income oriented vs needing to selll stocks.
Thanks.

Q: Hello Peter,
So glad we joined 5i, great information.
Could you comment on Life & Banc Split Corp (LBS).
The 12% yield is it a too good to be true story?
Thanks,
Ted

Q: Would like your comments on DPF.UN. I love India for the demographics.
Q: Hi Reter and team: Within the last week two analysts on BNN gave dramatically different assessments of Fortis. One figured it was a buy at current prices and that being a regulated utility its revenue would be allowed to rise with interest rates. The other thought it would never grow again and deserved to be shorted (shorting it was his third "pick"). Can you shed some light on this disagreement?
Q: I would like to know your thoughts on CLQ and if It is a buy at its current price.
Q: Great service. my question is on Kelso, KLS. I bought in after the derailment in Quebec and am wondering if I should stay with it. It is starting a very nice run. Thanks
Q: Thanks for all your great advice! Should I keep my BRF.PR.F - Brookfield Renewable preferred shares? They have gone down over 20% this year.
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Carfinco seems to be down again on news of EPS restatement. How do you assess the EPS restatement? Forgivable error or a sign of sloppy accounting (can't count number of shares ...)?
Does this present a buying opportunity (I have a small/partial position); or should I look for selling opportunities?
