Q: Hello 5i,
I have purchased these companies because of long term charts, size and stability, sector diversification, and the nice dividend. Though I do monitor the companies occasionally, the companies have little information available. Can I relax a little to the factors stated?
ZURICH INSURANCE (ZURVY), SSE PLC (SSEZY), BELGACOM (BGAOY), AUSTL&N ZEALND BK (ANZBY. You folks are the best.
Thanks

Q: I am looking to add BDI, which is in your model portfolio, to my portfolio. The share price has been dropping quite steadily since mid June and is down almost 9% in that time frame. It is down 1.5% to-day. Are there developments I am unaware of which are causing this significant downtrend in a market that is up (a bit)? Or is this a buying opportunity?

Q: Hello Team:
Being close to 70 and having all our portfolio in stocks, should I be considering moving a chunk of money into bonds? Some I am considering are Templeton Emerging Markets (TEI),Pimco Strategic Income (RCS) and Phillips Hager&North (PH&N). I have confidence long term in the market, but am somewhat uneasy of being caught in old age in large downturn. That said, I am willing to accept some risk for better return. I realize this is a big question, but any help you can provide me to structure some sort of plan would be most appreciated.
All the best
brian

Q: Hello 5I

I have recently seen an analyst report looking at forward earnings for AYA. I believe that they estimated 2.50/share for F2016. A forward multiple of 15x would put AYA into the 37.50/sh range. My questions are:
1 Do you believe that this is a reasonable projection based on the current state of the company?
2 Do you foresee any issues with the shareholders rejecting the deal and/or the deal not going through?

I have already trimmed this position once after the news came out -at a tidy profit- and it is currently sitting at 10% of the PF. As this is a conservative PF I would rather play it safe however most of the initial capital has been recouped from the trimming.

As always I look forward to your thoughts!
Have a safe charity ride and stay healthy!

Phil

PS For those of us into the road biking world.. what are the full specs on your new ride?

Q: Peter et al,
I bought Gluskin Sheff at $20.37 and it has risen approx 50%. Fabrice Taylor on BNN last week suggested to always take a profit when you can, but I think it deserves more consideration than that. What do you think its prospects are? Would a move to another financial e.g Cannacord CF be advisable? I already have Alaris, Element, Counsel, & Fiera. Also Davis & Henderson if it is considered a financial. They make up 23% of my portfolio. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Q: Hi 5i: I know it may not be one you follow closely, but can you please give me your take on Swift Transportation (SWFT), its announced results missing estimates, and the market's reaction to that? It is kind of odd considering it in relation to the TransForce/Contrans situation and the expectation that those businesses are on the upswing. Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i team, I have held HNZ Group (HNZ.A) for a long time now and at the time of purchase the company was trading at a low valuation, paid a nice dividend and had little or no debt. Here we are several years later, it still seems cheap, still pays a good dividend, still little or no debt but the share price has gone nowhere. Can I have your opinion on this company and what do you feel is needed to see a "nice" share price increase. Finally do you see the share increasing over the next few years or am I only going to collect the dividends. If you see it going nowhere can you suggest a good replacement. I already own most of the companies in both your model and income portfolios. Thanks. Mario.

Q: Hello Peter and Team: In an otherwise diversified portfolio, I am considering selling my position in CEW and purchasing half positions in each of BNS and SLF. My rationale is to avoid the 0.61% MER in CEW, and I also note that the top two holdings in CEW are in fact SLF at 10.38% and BNS at 10.27% of CEW's total portfolio. Are you OK with this switch? As always, thanks in advance for your advice/recommendations.
