Q: Can you explain the large drop in stock price after the release of the third quarter results in mid November. It is hard to believe that this is just profit taking. Thanks Mike
Q: I've got North America covered for my investments through stock purchases. How would you manage the rest or the world if one wanted diversification with a dividend bent. Would you purchase one ETV such as VEA or buy a few ETFs. Also what's a good starting point for a percentage of portfolio outside of North America.
Thanks
Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
I know this is not a fair question but I would appreciate your opinion which is always helpful. I have held this stock for several years and am even. I will spare you of all the metrics...Please.. just your over view will suffice. Is this large bank a legitimate long term contrarian hold, a value trap or just "dead-money"? HA! HA! Thanks as usual!
Q: What changes over the last few months or weeks may alter your sentiment of Flutter as a long term hold? What would you list as positive and what would you list as negative developments that would impact this sentiment? Thanks.
I am light on international exposure. I am thinking of adding an Indian and Mexican ETF as both economies are robust and likely have a long runway.
Firstly, would you agree? and if so, could you suggest a go to fund for each.
And if no, could you advise what you think would be a better path?
Q: Hi
Are you familiar with Treasury Wine Estates (Australian) and if so could you offer any opinion on them. They are trying to position themselves in the higher end segment in the US specifically. I expect this is to overcome the issues/interference they've encountered with sales / expansion in China.
Thanks for any opinion even if it is "Nope never heard of 'em".
Make question public if you see fit.
Q: Do you still think right now is a good time to invest in Japan? If so... How do you compare these ETFs? Which one are best for a long term investor? Thank you.
Q: do you know anything about this swiss based company. their gene editing therapy looks very promising. is it a binary outcome or something more positive. dave
Q: Hello,
I recently mentioned taking a position in MDLZ for part of my international holdings, not realizing MDLZ is actually US-based. Knowing you don't follow international stocks, are you generally aware of other internationally-based consumer defensive companies listed on a major US stock exchange? I looked at Nestle, but it seems to be only buyable OTC, and I am not too keen on that market. Another thought was DEO, do you see any red flags with it?
Thanks again, Michael
Q: Hello Peter
Any idea why Nu Bank holdings is surging as compared to NVEI, LSPD, PYPL etc. Is it because Warren Buffet owns shares in the company? Is it worth starting a position?
Q: This is a tough year for investors and I think most of us are interested in the optimum timing to sell your losers (to lock in your tax losses) and then perhaps reacquired the same loser you just sold after 30 days. I've never done any such "linked transactions" before and hope to get some guidance in that regard.
I kind of look at the first 15 days of November for such sales and then the first 15 days of December for requiring those shares (if the price is enticing then). What do you think of the two windows I proposed? What do the more experienced investors do in terms of timing in making this sell and then buy back maneuver.
Q: I'm interested in investing in a basket of companies that you think have the ability to increase their dividends even in a recessionary environment. Could you please send me some of your favourite ETF's that would give me exposure to these kinds of companies. If possible could you suggest ones that give me the necessary exposure to:
Canadian companies
American companies
International companies.
Thanks for your appreciated support.
Q: I'm looking to diversify from my US and CA markets to buy some international markets. I noticed that VE, European developed etf, didn't appear in the companies addressed above. Would you prefer a developed Europe etf or a Japanese etf at this time? Do you think Japan has a higher growth rate vs potential loss rate than VE? If so which Japanese etf would you recommended? Would you consider hedged back to CAD to be preferable at this time?
