Q: I own Arcan (ARN) convertible deb. It appears that things are not going well at ARN as reflected by the drop in converts value on 21 Sept. But I notice from their 2011 AIF that they have P1 reserves of oil and NGL of about 15,500m barrels. Their Q2 financial report indicates total debt of about 380 million, and I believe their netback is about $31/brl. They also have significant P2 reserves that are not included in the above.
Provided they don't pee away their assets, it seems to me that in the end they have enough hard assets to cover all debts. Could you kindly comment on the degree of risk in holding the converts. many thanks.

Q: Good Morning Peter,
Please keep up the great work !!!
I would appreciate your opinion of Horizon North Logistics Inc. (HNL- T) Very interesting little company. Might be a decent way to play a cyclical recovery in the resource sector as central banks crank up the printing presses.
Your thoughts please.
Thank you, Dennis

Q: Hey Peter. A question about cuf.un again, please. Yesterday, they announced financing where they are using 3 million cuf.un shares to procure 74 million dollars from an unnamed Canadian bank. By my math that works to $24.66 a share. I wouldn't have been surprised if the stock sold off a little but it is down almost 3% right now. Is this an opportunity or should I sign myself up for remedial math. Thanks, as always.

Q: Could you tell me your opinion on buying the parent company vs. one of their offspring. I'll ask specifically about MRC (nice record, tiny dividend) vs. one of their REITs, but my question could equally be applied to BAM.A vs. all their many creations. Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter,

Looking at the fundamentals of BPO, it has been trading at a discount to its NAV for a while. Comparing to most Canadian office focused REITs, BPO's current price seems quite unreasonable for this quality REIT.

Are there any special reasons? Or, it is just not a favourite name to the Wall Street. Do you think whether BPO is a good buy at the current level?

Thank you!
