Q: I have Sprott Physical Silver Trust units which I bought at about $14 a unit quite a few years back. I now realize I should have sold them long ago, but I didn't.
I'm hoping Silver will eventually increase in price so I won't be stuck with a huge loss.
Today Sprott made an announcement of a hostile bid for metal trust.
I have a feeling this may not be good for PHS.U unit holders, can you comment on this deal?

If there's any conflict involved and can't comment, I'll understand.

Thanks,
Paul

Q: I see PHM is down more than 10% today, CXV is down 13%, Noblis down over 5%, and Concordia down substantially, as well. I'm wondering what is going on this up-market day, and also, what you think of the comparative gains and risks of these types of companies vs big American bios like Amgen, Biogen, Celgene, and Gilead.

Q: WiLan's Q1 estimate of 5 cents (3 analysts avg.) is a far cry from last year's 14 cents, and revenue of $20.3M below $26M. What is causing such a reduction in expected numbers, is it legal fees and the Apple suit as suggested in your 2014 report, or is this company just shrinking? I guess any big beat could cause a good lift off the bottom of the chart, so I'm wondering if I should add to a small position as the 6.8% yield is tempting. Do you agree with the analyst numbers? Thanks, J.

Q: What are the market conditions besides interest rate that would make a 1-5 yr.laddered bond instrument attractive? Or is it a secular rotation from stocks to bonds that is the only other factor?

Q: I have held NTC for some time, and I am wondering if the company is in a death spiral, or if has a chance to rebound at any time in the future. Selling at this time would yield very little, so I would wait if there was any chance for this company to do well if conditions change. Thanks so much.

Q: Thanks for your suggestions. To my earlier query; and you can ignore it if you wish.
At a generic level and in a later inning bull market such as it may be now; would you be comfortable with a leveraged investment strategy considering one has done well in the earlier innings. Or would you favour shutting down and bring your closer earlier in the game i.e. get defensive.
If you thought it was okay to leverage your earlier innings gains, would you suggest investing in growth stocks looking for home runs or load the bases one by one? Too much of baseball analogy, but I always look for Peter's comments be it in print or TV or in this forum.
Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i team

I own some Perrigo and Mylan is trying to take over the company sending the share up.

Now we have Teva trying to take over Mylan...and Perrigo rejecting Mylan's bid.

In your view, what are the chances of Mylan increasing its offer as a strategy to escape from Teva and what would you do with shares of PRGO?

Thx

Q: Hi Peter,

Had you written the article on PFD shares and I read it about 5 years ago I would have probably been much better off.

At any rate over the years (since the financial crisis I invested in many Pfd share resets, all at ipo price.

Amongst them are :AX.PR.E, DRM.PR.A, DC.PR.B, FFH.PR.F, NPI.PR.C,AIM.PR.A,INE.PR.A and C, PPL.PR.G AND TA.PR.F.

Obviously I am not concerned about the solvency of these companies, however I am underwater substantially on all of them. Can things get worse and can they fall further?

Or should I hold my nose and just keep them?

Small portion of my overall portfolio and income from them is marginal. I am retired.

What say you?

Thanks
