Q: I have had a small position in Temple for a very long time. Although I missed opportunities to sell at a nice profit I have actually received more in income to date than my original cost.

I think that Morguards involvement is positive. If anybody can turn Temple around it would be them. Based on that I have advised my broker to exercise my Rights. It will still be a small position.

I do realize that the Hotel Industry is challenging at the best of times and it’s currently not the best of times.

One thing that I have noticed is that Morguard owns 6 Hotels in Ontario that could potentially be combined with the Temple holdings at some point.

Morguard has been very aggressive acquiring Rights and may not be done yet. They issued an “Early Warning” on Oct 21. I know that your opinion re Temple has not been positive. Does Morguards increased interest change your opinion?

At what point would Morguard be required to make an offer for the company? They are approaching the 20% threshold but it is not clear to me how that applies to an Institutional Investor,

I am using a margin account offshore to borrow CDN dollars and paying in $US...currency upside..I am looking for dividend stock as part of the portfolio to pay the interest charges...I am ideally looking at yield over 5.5%...I currently have many of the favored (WSP,BEP.UN,CSH.un,SIA,REITS, AD, ENB,SLF, TD)..i was thinking of adding VNR,IGM,WIN...or would you suggest adding to existing portfolio of "higher" yielding stocks...no tax issues...

Q: Could you please comment why BEP has significantly underperformed most other renewable utility companies on a 3 month, YTD and YOY basis. Thanks.

Q: Could I get your opinion on Ned Goodman rejoining the board of EXN. Plus the dewatering plan they are working on, do they have access to the 10 million needed for the dewatering plan. Do they have enough cash to keep going till the dewatering turns them around.

Q: Sounds like the banks may be closing some branches over the next few years due to more digital banking- which REITS have a lot of bank tenants and may be affeected?

It is in the model portfoliio. In Oct. 22 on MarketCall, Eric Nuttell mentioned that he has a high regards for the company, but that the dividend may be at risk.

Do you perceive any risk in the dividend?

Q: After this VRX/CXR fiasco, I'm thinking of adding FAP to my portfolio, with a Yield of 11%. At age 62+, I think I need a little less risk, although I did jump in and BUY (VRX/CXR). Is FAPs' Yield safe?

Is there a specific reason behind the 12.45% increase in stock price on Friday?

Seem to me it is a move ahead of release for quarterly results. As usual, some people seem to know more than everybody else. What do you think?

I know you favor this company but do you think for a long-term investor (5-10Year) a 5% weight is too much for this company?

My other financial exposure is via EFN (together they make up 3%). Thanks for your insight.

For income I am thinking taking of small 2% positions in Exchange Income Fund (EIF), DH Corp (DH) and Canadian Tire REIT (CRT.UN)

For growth 2% positions in Espial Group (ESP) and Noblis Health Corp (NHC).

Do you have any dire warnings or better suggestions?

Q: Hello Peter, I have a full position in XRE and I want to add to my REIT holdings. While the yield on XRE is somewhat higher than CAR.UN or CSH.UN and I obviously get diversification, I'm paying an MER of .6% and its performance over 1-5 year time frames has significantly lagged both of these alternatives. For a long-term conservative income holding in a diversified portfolio, which of these three would you suggest? (Or if another REIT seems more compelling for this purpose, please suggest.) Q: Greetings, Peter and Staff.
I find High Arctic Energy to be a very frustrating stock. The company appears to be great while the stock is not. If the stock begins to move up, it invariably gets whacked.
The stock has been doing better recently but today it took a big hit. The stock dropped $0.27 (7+%) in the last two or three minutes of trading for the week. I am concerned that HWO may be the target of a short attack so I will be watching for a very negative analyst report by Monday.
Am I paranoid? Can you help me understand what happened at the close?

Q: Hi 5i Wish I had stayed with my chosen drip company a few years ago but didn't. Would like a suggestion of one or two companies, sector doesn't matter, that you might suggest buying for drip purposes that I can put away for many years. Would most likely be in a tfsa. Thx Gerry

Q: I bought Cineplex for growth and have made a very nice gain on it. I wonder with it at over $50.00 if there is much more growth left in the short term and it might be time to sell for a better growth stock.

Q: Peter - I know your opinion on STB however, I am looking to park some cash in one of my Wife's non-registered accts. Also considering KEG.UN; AW.UN; or BPF.UN. The rational is simply to pickup a 5-10% dividend over the next 6+ months until the market turns. Your guidance is appreciated.

Q: Hi- what do you think of Rocky Mountain now? They seem to have more than enough earnings and cash flow to cover the dividend- might they swing their business at all to benefit from infrastructure spending? Are they in a trough here?
