Q: Hi Peter and Team, Happy new year. For my TFSA account I was going to buy Horizon ETF. Trades on the S & P 500 symbol HXS. Is this a good idea? What are your thoughts or recommendations. Thanks. Ed

Q: MRT.UN appears to have a low pay out ratio relative to other REITS. Would you expect it to have greater growth prospects in comparison to others? What are the prospects of reaching its former highs within the next two years?

Q: Hi Peter, i'm an new member and as such can you give me three name that has the highest potential for the greatest growth over the next year. I'm in the small cap space so price fluctuation is not an issue.

Q: Happy New Year, Peter and staff!!
I am a relatively new subscriber to 5i but have been with Money saver for a long time (I love that magazine). And I really like this 5i service!
I look after the affairs of my mother who is 81, we have a bunch of GIC’s / bonds coming due in a non-registered account. The fixed income portion of her portfolio is about 50%. The rest is in dividend paying blue chips such as banks, telecom’s, insurance, energy. These have been held for quite a while and have been serving her very well.
I am looking at a few ETF’s for the income portion, I am interested in short term laddered government as well as corporate bond funds. Analyzing ETF screens, I have been looking at CLF, CBO, ZCS, VSC and ZCM. I am thinking of perhaps splitting her fixed income to 2 or 3 of these or similar accounts.
I would really appreciate your thoughts on these and other ETF’s that I should strongly consider.

Q: 1) we should have 2 reports, income and growth with their individual ratings. (BEP.UN may be an A for income and C for growth). Then the members can decide which stocks to buy for their portfolios.
2) Can you suggest 4 growth stocks for our TFSA in January. 2 for regular growth and 2, 2 baggers. That would be wonderful.

Q: For a TFSA of $35 000 with Amaya(AYA)representing 75% and CGI (GIB.A) 25%, where would you advise putting an additional contribution of $5 500 ? Both are good companies. Would adding to these companies make any sense, or is there enough there, and some diversification would be advisable ? What about putting this additional contribution in GIB.A ?
