Also Boyd Income(BYD.UN) I bought this on your recommendation and have done well but at this price do I consider buying more or wait for news of some sort?

Peter, although this may a bit beyond the mandate of 5i Research, I am very interested in 3-D printing investments. However, as it is an emerging technology with no clear winners yet, I am building a basket of 3-D printing stocks to cover all the bases and ensure that I hold the ultimate leaders in the sector. I currently hold:
3-D development, production and sales companies - 3-D Systems, Stratasys and ExOne
3-D measurement and imaging company - FARO Technologies
3-D prototype and mold production and sales company - Proto Labs
Robotics and automation - ROBO STOX ETF
I am very interested in information from 5i staff or members about any promising, emerging 3-D printing related companies that might be candidates to become viable players in this sector.
I do understand that my question may be far beyond the scope of this forum and that it may not receive any answers.

Q: I'm thinking of investing in a couple of ETFs. I'm trying to understand the fee structure. On Fees and expenses it gives an Actual Management Fee percentage and an Actual Mgmt Expense Ratio(MER). How do these 2 Fees relate to my costs of buying and holding on to an ETF

Q: I am looking at your Dec/13 summary and under 5i A+ to B- returns you show a 66.5% return since inception. Does this return include dividends and what is the date of inception.

Q: BMO Investorline was the first one out with RDSP account, but they only allow mutual fund investment.
TD Waterhouse allow investment in stocks, debenture, mutual funds, fixed income, options etc for RDSP account. However, all trades have to be phoned in, instead of online. But commission are charged at online rate.
Fed has allowed RDSP transfer to different brokers since 2 years ago.

Q: Re Edward's comment about not being able to purchase individual equities in an RDSP. This is probably because he opened it through a BMO retail banking branch/outlet. I know TD/Waterhouse (brokerage A/C) allows this as per the following from www.tdwaterhouse.ca/products-services/investing:

"Over and above our industry-leading GICs, term deposits and mutual funds, you can invest in a wide selection of qualified investments including —

A wide range of mutual funds from other leading
fund companies
Fixed income investments and third party GICs
Canadian, U.S. and foreign equities,
including new issues"

I'm sure the same can be done through a BMO brokerage as well.

Q: Good Afternoon,

An FYI. Many 5i followers are probably happy Badger investors.This morning at about 7:10 the president (?) was interviewed on BNN and can be viewed from their library. He provide some very impressive information e.g. they build their own trucks the way they like e.g. they are built to last 10 years and the way the the drivers appreciate @ a cost of $360-$370k verses buying them for $475- $500k and these trucks are earning 32 -37k per month. Last year they reached their goal of having equal revenue from the united states and canada and he thinks they can grow the US business to 5X the Canadian revenue. Still seems like lots of room to run. mike

Q: Brenda's question about stock selection for an RDSP implies that individual stocks can be purchased in her RDSP. When I set up my registered disability savings accounts (unfortunately 3 accounts) I was unable to find a self-directed RDSP in which I could purchase individual stocks. Thus, I currently hold only BMO mutual funds in these accounts. I would happily open a RDSP accounts in any financial institution that offers plans that permit individual stock purchases.
Peter, this forum is invaluable.

Q: Looking to add a mid/large cap gold stock. Just hold Eldorado currently. Can you recommend a few names, plz. Assumption is that the price of Gold will rise at some point.

Q: At age 72 the most recent recommendation for income (bonds) in a portfolio is age 72x72= 52%. Would you agree that convertible bonds (less than a 5 year term) should be a significant portion of the total. What % amount would you recommend and could you please provide a few names to include.
