Q: Hi guys. There is alot of news regarding emerging market economies raising their interest rates in order to boost their plunging currency. is there any possibility of Canada doing the same any time soon?

Q: My apologies for asking another question but I am stumpet re holding a small amount of the Cineplex recent convtible. I asked for a larger amount and only received a really small amount of bond. Would it not be wiser just to sell it? The conversion seems so unappealing and although 4% I may as well buy the common or similar? Your good opinion please.

Q: Picking-up on a previous comment from a subscriber
about "RBCdirectinvesting" honouring DRIP discounts within their accounts, I called them to confirm this and they DO in fact provide this service, but only for selected equity's based on the holdings of their Client's and subject to review periodicaly.
My question to 5iResearch is:
Is there a web-site that lists companies that provide a discount (in a DRIP) to share purchases?
To my knowledge RBC is the only Discount Brokerage that honours this (albiet on a selected basis). Any comments from 5i Subscriber's is welcome.

All are down (slightly). These are the only bond and preferred share funds that I hold, for a total of $80k. My question is, should I replace them with something else or should they be part of a diversified portfolio? Many thanks in advance.

Q: TAKING ADVANTAGE VOLATILITY SAFELY
I am a senior and devote some time to the market each day. with volatility high could recommend some solid companies that have good fundamentals,a stock you would own anyway, a reasonable pay out and dividend, are reasonably safe and can be traded or accumulated taking advantage of volatility. Some that come to mind may be Peyto Exploration & Development Corp PEY:TSX , Whitecap Resources Inc WCP:TSX, Davis + Henderson Corp DH:TSX.

Q: I currently have a half position in BIR and also PPY.
Which do you prefer ? should I go all in on one of these or

Q: Could I please have your team's opinion on two REIT Exchange Traded Funds for the fixed income side of my portfolio, in addition to bonds and GIC's. I'm considering XRE and/or ZRE. XRE is the Blackrock iShares ETF weighted more heavily in the larger REITS, whereas ZRE is the Bank of Montreal ETF more equally weighted across the sector. Which approach would you prefer? And if you don't consider REITS "fixed income", how would you add real estate to the fixed income mix? Would our home (fully paid) be considered "fixed income" real estate and, therefore, should it's value be added to our "holdings" as a percentage of the fixed income component? Thank you.

Q: I have a large position in ERF and nothing in ECA. I do likes ERF growth and good dividend yield. Which do you prefer and why?
I am leaning a lot more to ERF because of its yield, growth and area of operation. I also think ERF has more upside than ECA in the next two to three years. Your comments please.

Q: I have followed Ross Healy for many years and have a lot of respect for him despite getting into some of his loosing recommendations that cost me dearly. I have come to conclude that he is a master at identifying overvalued companies, but on the opposite end many of his picks turn out to be value traps. Mr. Healy constantly harps on the “price to book” ratio of a company and I have heard him state that every other metric is just fluff. My question relates to how you believe “price to book” factors as a metric for evaluating stock picks. How (if at all) does the price to book ratio factor into 5i’s recommendations, and how important do you feel this metric is when evaluating a company’s stock price?
