Q: It seems coal stocks are on the rise - can you comment on this ie- because of nat. gas price? Is this just a bounce of the low? Also, please recommend a solid coal company that could benefit if the demand for coal increases. Thanks
Q: Good morning Peter,
Still enjoying your website! Does BRP pay a dividend? What do you think of this company....it's only recently come to my attention. Many thanks, SE
Q: John Wright, CEO of Petrobank (BPG) was on BNN today. Frances H. of BNN noted that PBG owns 57% of PBN and that when you subtract the market value of the BPN shares owned by BPG, that the rest of PBG almost comes for free. John (who is also CEO of PBN) said that in 4-5 quarters they planned to distribute all the PBN shares owned to PBG shareholders. This should then unlock the value in PBG and give PBG a pop. Would PBG be a reasonable speculative buy at current levels (assuming 1-1.5 year horizon)?
Q: Good Morning Peter and Team,
Looking forward to the Canadian Moneysaver Seminar this Saturday. My question is about Enghouse Systems (ESL-T). I know you have rated it highly (A-) and for very good reason. Would you consider this company a mini Constellation Software where one should just purchase it at a fair price (like now) and enjoy the ride ??? Just as an aside, I am finding that, over time, the smaller, well run, wealth creating, companies (i.e. Constellation Software, Paladin Labs, etc.) seldom, if ever, get really cheap in a Graham and Dodd sense. Therefore someone with a deep value orientation, fixated on price versus value, ends up tripping over the dollars to pickup the pennies. Thanks, Dennis
Q: Enervest EIT.UN is offering a VOLUNTARY ANNUAL CASH REDEMPTION
Unitholders are entitled to redeem units of the Fund at a price equal to 95% of the average Net Asset Value (NAV) of the three trading days preceding the November 22, 2012 redemption date, less direct costs. Direct costs are expected to be less than 1%.(Current NAV is 14.65 and todays close was 13.16) If all redemption requests exceed 10% of the aggregate outstanding units of the Fund, the Fund will process redemptions to this maximum on a pro-rata basis based on the total amount tendered. Please note that any units tendered for redemption in excess of this 10% maximum will be returned to the unitholder on a pro-rata basis following the November 22, 2012 redemption date.Redemption price is determined based on average NAV of November 19, 20 & 21, 2012. Payment for units that have been tendered and accepted for redemption will be made on or before December 21, 2012.
My questions are: Is this a good deal for current holders and what would you rate this security on an A to D scale ?
Thank-you
Avigilon Corporation (AVO) strikes me as the type of company that you may find interesting. While it doesn't pay a dividend, its growth within its particular market niche looks to be quite impressive. I'd appreciate any comments you may have.
Q: Peter, with all the majors ie. Shell, Exxon etc. acquiring assets for the LNG projects on the west coast are there any infrastructure investments that we could consider?

Q: HNZ.A owned for 4 yr.-cost adjusted base $3.60 per share. Low debt, high ROE, low payout ratio & down from summer high of $37.00-lots of room to > dividend. I was thinking of buying some more as this is a solid company from what I can see? What am I missing in my analysis??
