Q: Hi Guy's,
This is a suggestion and not a question. Why not change your "submit question" form to have a cell for the name of the company and the ticker that the member must fill in before the question is submitted. This will assist you and all the other members with the question.
All the best in 2014.
Regards
John

Q: Hi there, thanks for the great service this year!
I've been writing down names of gold and silver companies over the last few months when they have been mentioned - thinking that I would look at them at year end for possibly a good time to purchase a couple. However, I've lost track of why some of them were on the list.
Could you please pick 2-3 that you would consider the best choices, or alternatively the ones you would stay away from. Thanks!

Q: Peter,
1.I have been interested in the comments on dealers. I was thinking of changing, but realized I should be asking more of RBC. I would like to hear more about the other brokers.
2.One of my complaints has to do with members referring only to the ticker letters for companies instead of the names.
3. Do you have any info on Algoma Central? Thank you in advance Gary

Q: Hello, I'm astounded by Ford Equity Research's recent sell recommendations on many of my junior Canadian mining stocks ( they have sells on NGD,HBM,DML,CS,PG,AUG for example). I checked with their website and they apparently provide independent unbiased research on approximately 4000 companies from their US headquarters. How much weight do you think a person should place on their recommendations on Canadian junior mining stocks?
Q: Peter & Co., your amazing service is invaluable to retail investors.
Athabasca Minerals was halted for much of the day pending news that the company did a bought deal financing. The units are priced at $1.45, $0.10 less than the closing price of the stock yesterday. I understand the potential value of the projects that this financing could permit. However, I expect that tomorrow the stock could trade below the $1.45 level, the issue price of the units.
Questions
1. If the company has not yet received the permits for the fracing sand project and the cash is not required immediately, is this financing likely coming at an opportune time to avoid financing after a possible poor Q4 that ended on November 30? This question calls for speculation that I hope your vast experience might shed some light on.
2. If the stock trades off to the high $1.30's, would it be a buying opportunity given the pricing of the financing?
Thanks, Peter.

Q: Hello and merry Christmas!
I have been looking at Loyalist (LOY) and I see that they had a great quarter and are expanding into the student housing sector. I am looking at taking a position in this for a 3-5 year hold. What is your opinion and do they have room to grow?
Greg

Q: Happy Holidays 5i:
I have 16.6% of my portfolio in the Energy sector. Is this too much? In the U.S. I have OII, NBL and KMI. In Canada, ENB,SU, TOU, WCP and PEY. Your advice on this line-up is appreciated.

Q: In regards to AFOP...Mr Reese was commenting on Alliance Fibre Optic Products (and gave the call sign AFOP). It trades on the Nasdaq. Any thoughts? Its numbers look good to me.

Q: Can you please provide your opinion on RIL.UN? I currently hold this position and debate on liquidating it.
Q: Hi Knowledgeable People:
Could you give me a quick 101 on CAP RATE? I believe it is the opposite of PE Ratio. So often on BNN I hear them talking about a cap rate of 6 or 10 etc. Do they mean 6%? Is a property with a cap rate of 12 more desirable than one with a 4% rate? Also, do you have any information on San Juan Basin Royalty Trust? I do not believe that it is an MLP ( which I want to avoid). I am concerned about tax reporting of trust income to the IRS. Probably a US Tax return would be required. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks very kindly,
BEN
