Q: Instead of buying energy companies, which have bankrupcy risk, for those of us with little to no weighting on the sector, what do you think of buying oil directly with Horizon's ETF?
Q: I never thought I'd see VET at $10.00 Is this a great buy or just a disaster - moreso than it is already waiting to happen?
Is this company sustainable at this number? With anyone but Trudeau at the helm I'd think theres a chance...but with him I fear its all downhill.
Your opinion....does this company survive??
Q: I am a recently retired investor who has held SYZ for a while; ridden it up and appear to now be riding it down. I see that insiders seem to be starting to buy again. At what price do you think it becomes a compelling opportunity? (I do love my dividends!)
Q: I'm 27 and have invested in my TFSA in 8 growth compagnies so far for long term holding (retirement). I save 10% of my salary in my TFSA for my retirement since I'm 22 as I read in Rich Barber few years ago. I wait until I've got 1000-1500$ and then buy a stock.
1) Other part in my saving is to buy a house with my girlfriend in about 2-3 years. What will you suggest us to invest in for that short period?
2) My girlfriend want to start investing for her retirement. I suggested her to invest in ETF at first and than change for a strategy like Beat the TSX when she has enough money saved. Is it a good strategy? If so, which ETF will you suggest to invest in?
Thank you
Q: Which stocks (US or Cdn) in your opinion may serve as something of a hedge during the virus scare. Kinaxis, for example, doesn't seem to be getting beaten up (yet). I'm thinking of online shopping support stocks, streaming networks, or other businesses that won't be affected, and may even see a boost, if people choose to stay in.
Q: Looking at a short-term hold (2-3 yrs)
which of these three would you recommend has the best chance for the most growth?
What order would you put them if you were purchasing
thanks
michele
Q: I was averaging in the market just before the correction and only deployed 35 % of the cash I had. Thanks to your advice in the past on that i was disciplined ( despite my emotions fighting the plan for months) . I feel like we have a great opportunity now.
Is it an average in - say 3- 5 % a week or see how it goes to catch an upward trend to and keep the gunpowder dry for now.
ps - II know you don't have crystal ball -just looking for a smart plan to execute - to keep my emotional investor guy under control
Q: Could I get you take on Viemed's latest earnings, please? I'm in at $7. Would you recommend I sell, hold or buy at these levels (looking long term)? Thank you.
Q: With lower interest rates - is Real Matters an opportunity in this market ?
The current market conditions with corona will affect it as well but I thought the lower interest rates may actually make this a better opportunity today.
Is corona a significant issue with Real as well?
Motive Financial, a division of Canadian Western Bank, is currently paying 2.8% on their high-interest savings account. In this lower interest environment, I'm wondering how the smaller operators can 'afford' this. Your insight is always appreciated.
Q: I currently own BNS, BAM and GSY in my Canadian equity portfolio for a total weight in the financial space of about 12%. I am wondering if you would currently favour a switch to SLF from BNS, especially if I could crystallize a taxable loss?
Also a comment about the questions on market timing that you have recently received. If you are reacting to volatile markets it may simply be that you are not as risk tolerant as you believe!
Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
Blackberry hitting a new low today. Could this be an opportunity for a long term hold? It does look cheap. Your assessment please.
Q: I own Martinrea. Can you give me your analysis of their earnings just reported. They look good to me but the stock has taken a steep hit in the last week albeit along with everything else.
