Q: I read the JDSU (JDU) 4th quarter earnings results and listened to their conference call last week with great interest. I know they do not distribute a dividend-- :-( -- your thoughts would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Q: ZED, Zedi Solutions, is a small, unnoticed company that seems to execute well quarter after quarter yet goes nowhere. I suspect that a lot of the stock is owned by insiders especially after the CEO stated that they are 'rewarding shareholders'. He must mean the 0.20 something rise since the Dec lows. I would appreciate your opinion on this company and if you think $0.75 would be an entry point. Thank you.

Q: Hello Peter,
INTER PIPELINE FUND PTSHP - IPL.UN is now 1.3% of my portfolio. I have done very well in the stock (up 38%)& I am looking to add to my holding. ( I enjoy good dividends & some growth)
It does however look very high at the moment. Do you see it as a buy, hold, or take profit ?
Thanks very much in anticipation.

Q: Hi Peter,
I was fortunate enough earlier this year to buy Africa Oil (AOI)for $1.50/share. It currently sits at $9 as a result of hitting oil in their first well drilled in Kenya. They have a massive land position in East Africa and looks like they may have several billion barrels of oil. Very strong management team and a Lundin Group of Companies. We are awaiting a third party reserve evaluation any day now and they will also be spudding well # 2 soon in Kenya. Any thoughts/opinions would be greatly apprecaited.
Thanks.

Q: hi peter, a hypothetical question for you . Alot of dividend yielding stocks have similar looking charts with there valuations going up and up .I am wondering if and when interest rates go up , is there any stocks one should be looking at that could benefit from a down turn in dividend yielding equities ? thanx for your time.

Q: Hi Peter,

I have to admit this fact first. What's making 5i research more popular is this QA session which covers your brief opinion on a wide array of companies compared to the actual company analysis. So hats off to that and the amount of knowledge and insight offered by these comments would definitely be helping a lot of people invest in good companies and avoid bad ones.

My question for today is about timing. Generally perceived notion is to stay invested for the long run for many years. But in today's market it might end you up where you started or much lower. Let's take an example. I invested in MMT at $1 at $1.40 and $1.66. If I exit now I would be making a good return after inclusion of dividends. On the other hand I invested in TOL at $3.75 and then at $2.19 and it went down to $1.40 and I am still holding on to my shares where I am now thinking of selling the latter position even though it might go much higher or go back to $1.40. How should one behave in these two different circumstances and when should one draw a line for profits or losses if the future direction is not very clear and the opportunity cost of investing elsewhere or staying invested might be huge. ( Another good example could be AVR which at one point was $2.50 and now languishing at $0.67)

Thanks

Q: PRI Primary Energy has just reinstated a dividend. I have always liked the company and bought in the dark times. It throws off a good deal of cash and is low on debt. What do you think of it?

Q: Hi Peter,

I noticed that Benedict Cheng, Esq. recently sold a substantial amount of Aston Hill Financial Inc. and Green Lily Corporation purchase a similar amount. I wonder if Benedict, through Green Lily Corporation, still is The Beneficial Owner of nearly the same amount of Aston Hill Financial Inc. please?

Respectfully,

Dave (Nicholson)
