Q: Good Morning Peter and Team,
We own the portfolios + a some complimentary companies. With all the volatility of late what 3 or 4 companies from the portfolios would you add to at this time ?

Q: we hold tou and are down 20% would you consider this a good time to trade some or all of tou and buy either fm or wcp or possibly both ... tou is a small holding is less than 1% portfolio holding thank you for your continued help in these matters

Q: To what degree do you expect tax loss selling to impact these stocks in the next 6 weeks: Enterprise Group, Surge and Auto Canada.
Also, I noticed a few stocks (EH and ACQ to name two) that had a great year in 2013 and had a significant selloff in January 2014. Is there such a phenomenon as tax gain selling, where investors hang on until a new year to defer capital gains for a year. If so, do you recommend waiting on some of the years big gainers as late January may represent a better entry point.

Q: This is a 2 part portfolio editing question:
1. I hold BDT as well as STN and WSP. Should I hold all 3 or sell BDT and split the funds between STN and WSP?
2. I hold CHW and have a paper loss on it as I do with AVO and ACQ. Thinking several years up the road, would I be better off selling CHW and re-investing in AVO and ACQ, both of which you appear to like; or simply hang on to CHW?

It has been brought to attention on a personal level that a Beverly Hills based private investor representing a larger group as the mAin shareholder is attempting to buy this bank. Have you heard anytHing on this and/or do you have any means by which we could Find out more about any truth about this rumor?

Q: I would like to share my personal experience with Raintree financial solutions to add more info to Shirley's question. I have been an investor for 3 years and it has been a disaster. If you want to sell an investment it may take up to 1 year and they will charge you up to 20% to sell. Also one of my investments has a "cease trade order" placed on it, by the Alberta Regulators and for over 1.5 years I have not been able to do anything with it. I agree with the 5i comment that the risk/reward is very poor, and the liquidity when you want to sell is horrible. I am a high net worth investor, and consider myself to be a sophisticated investor, and I will never invest in this type of investment again. My strong advise is to stay away. If you go to the info sections they will only give you all the positives and dismiss the short comings of these investments. If you are looking for some Alternative type of investment I suggest you look at some of the good hedge fund companies. I have invested with Barometer Capital, DKAM, Agilith Capital or Picton Mahoney and these are high quality companies that have much better liquidity and long term track records.

Q: If I hold ZUH in an investment account(non-RRSP or RIF) am I correct in assuming that the U.S.withholding, tax which is minimal on a $0.11 dividend,is the only detriment in holding the above ETF outside a registered account? Thank you. Don.

Q: I have a fairly large holding of O&G stocks and the recent sell off in the O&G sector have been devastating to my portfolio. However, I know (at least I think I know) which ones are resilient and can bounce back over time, except for one - DEE.

Right now I'm down over 40% on this name while all others have shown various degrees of recovery already, especially today. In fact DEE is the only O&G stock I own that is in the red for today.

Is DEE a lost cause and should be my first tax loss selling for 2014? Or should I at least wait for the Q3 results and the accompanying forward guidance to see if there is still a chance for a turn around.

The recent stock price decline has left me with a few positions underwater due to buy timing. In the context of a well diversified portfolio and holding all three names, would you please comment on adding to ET(Evertz) at this time as it has not really bounced back from the recent decline. Is there something to the lack of bounce? In comparison, would you consider adding to SYZ(Sylogist)or FSZ(Fiera Cap) ahead of ET?
