Q: Hi 5I team - I know this could be a tough question but here goes. Can you give me your top 2 picks in the healthcare, consumer staples & financial sectors, thanks
Q: Good Morning
Can you please tell me as to why the RATE RESET PREFERRED SHARES are being hammered since January 19, 2015 when at the same time the PERPETUAL PREFERRED SHARES ARE RISING????????????
Examples of Falling Rate Reset Preferred Shares:
VSN.PR.A down 8%
ENB.PF.C down 4.3%
PPL.PR.G down 5.4%
BRF.PR.A down 5.7%
TA.PR.H down 3.7%
SLF.PR.I down 3%
Examples of Rising Perpetual Preferred Shares:
BRF.PR.E up 3.4%
SLF.PR.D up 1%
I own several rate reset preferred shares and I will appreciate your response as to why the rate reset preferred shares are being hammered when at the same time the perpetual preferred shares are either maintaning their value or rising.
Thank you.
Q: Good morning! I am down 6% in Qualcomm - with the issues it is having today, would it be a good idea to get out or do you think it will rebound? Thanks so much!
Q: Hi Peter and Team
Do you think long term holders should panic and sell even after the big nosedive this morning due to the announcement on foreign exchange cost increases or ride it out and expect it to bounce back?
Thanks for all your help
Q: If you don't have American dollars can you justify spending Canadian dollars to buy American stocks. In my cash ACCOUNT AT PRESENT I HAVE 34% American stocks and 66% Canadian stocks

Looking for your insights on a number of preferred shares that are nearing reset in the next year or so and whose prices have been driven down given the recent bank of Canada rate cut and decline in 5 year Canada's. Do you feel these declines represent a buying opportunity in these shares? Also in terms of reset options, the 5 year canada and 90 day bill rates are maybe 20 bps apart, does this make the floater rate the more logical choice, given the redcent compression/ flattening of the yield curve?
Q: I look at PIH every few months. It is a microcap and the avg. volume is miniscule, but the valuation is reasonable and could be a takeover target I suppose. What do you think of the debt, overall quality of the management and the company's prospects? Thanks as usual for your insight.
Q: Could I get your opinion on this company? They seem to have a fixed price of $77/barrel in Argentina and some properties in Canada. The CAPEX is set for 2015. Lots of reported resources to drill up. Sounds like they have some new board additions recently. Given our low spot price for oil, how does it look to you for the next few quarters? Is it somewhat sheltered vs other energy companies by Argentine fixed price of $77/barrel?
Q: I have a question about InterRent REIT - your comments on the recent deal and would it be higher than a B- given growth and
results over 2014. thanks
Q: Dear 5i
What are your thoughts on KLS at this time ? Is it a good time to invest in this company and are they expecting good earnings growth over the next couple years ?
Also what sector is currently the strongest in the U.S. And what ETF would you recommend within that sector . Looking for high growth .
Thanks
Bill C.
Q: My question is regarding base metals. do you think this business cycle will unfold like most other cycles where the base metals will run strong in the later innings.did you ever see a bull market of this magnitude not have the base metals participate ? any other insights regarding this subject would be appreciated .it would seem like now would be the time to start nibbling at good base metal stocks ie Hudbay, Lundin ,FM etc because the downside is limited and everyone and my dog hates this sector . thanx norm
Q: Hi Peter,
I've heard you say in the past a healthy buy signal for a company is when it announces its first dividend. In keeping with buy signal strategy, what sort of signals are the professionals looking for when they start buying oil equities? What would you consider a buy signal in the oil patch? My concern is that the non-professionals almost always are too early or too late which kills return. Thank you for your time.
Q: According to INK Company Insider, there has been some insider buying. Hamptom Securities and Beacon have apparently been buying. Given the release of their new sports app which looks pretty good, I wonder if I could get your comments on the company for the next 12-18 months?
