Q: Good morning Peter. I would like to invest in the metalls/resources sector for 3 year hold as current prices seem to be historically low. Can you suggest 5 good company's that can sustain the current downturn (lower debit, good assets, reasonable cash flow) that look very attractive at current price levels. Thank you for your great service.
What are your thoughts on the current pricing of PHM? Do you think the price has hit a bottom yet? I have 3/4 position, so should I be adding or wait and see what the next results bring?
Also when is Concordia's next earnings report? Last earnings was OK, with light revenue, did management adjust guidance for this or was there just lag in sales say due to timing of acquisitions?
Q: Hello Peter & Co,
It was a brutal day for materials and energy,
I'm glad that my holdings in the Materials sector (5.7% of portfolio) consist of Chemtrade, Interfor (for US housing) and Stella Jones.
I wonder if I should further reduce my Energy holdings (4.4%) consisting of Tourmaline, Vermillion and Whitecap or get out completely; ditto for Energy Infra/Midstream (9.3%) consisting of Altagas, Enbridge, Inter Pipe, Keyera and Pembina.
Thanks for your input.
Antoine
Q: Peter; When a company does a buy back program what reporting criteria are they obligated to follow, i.e. are they " insiders" and have to report that way or just quarterly or ? Thanks.Rod
Q: Hi Peter and Gang,
I bought CSU which I still own at $170 and its currently trading at the $540 range. I would appreciate your comment regarding an exit strategy for this stock.

Q: I am acutely aware that Gold is down sharply today. You have already answered another member about the investors losing confidence in commodities.
Of the medium sized Gold companies CG seems to have held the price better than others though it is also down! For example compared to Alamos, Yamana, Eldorado and such.
I see not many questions on CG on members' questions. None for a year approximately. What are the companies that can be compared to CG?
Any opinions or comments?
Thanks in advance.
Q: I currently do not hold any precious metal stocks, and am very grateful for this. I know some of this is pure luck, and am wondering about your contrarian view on the sector. I see some stocks like YRI, G, ABX that have gone down so low that surely there is "blood in the streets". Is this a time to step in, or is this not 5i's style of investing? If this is not a recommended style, I would totally understand, but figured I would ask. Thank you!
Q: Compared to the other banks would you agree BNS is the bank with the highest exposure to commodities especially with its exposure to latin america. Also with the weakening Canadian economny how significant will loan loss provisions be in the not so distant future not only for BNS but the other banks?
Hello Peter, If you were to sell, how would you rank them.
Being considerably down on these, would you suggest holding any of these or better to take a loss and move elsewhere. Looks like energy and precious metal sector has no support.
Q: I am helping my mom invest for her TFSA. Currently she holds equal weights of a perpetual Brookfield preferred, Altagas (ALA), ZEB, and WSP. She has enough cash to invest in 3-4 more positions. I want to add relatively conservative dividend stocks with some growth potential. I was thinking of CGX as one of them but am not sure if it is overvalued. what would you suggest for 3-4 stocks?
Q: Do you think this reit is severely undervalued compared to a name like TCN.TO tricon capital, MRG.UN own 30 multi residential proporties in the US and has a yield of 6%, with the the loonie going lower their asset and revenue will go UP. thanks.
Q: Good day,
I see that Greene and Dalsin at PHM exercised a bunch of options earlier in the month and had to sell some shares to square up the tax bill which makes sense. However, I noticed yesterday (July 16) that it shows they sold 13,422,401 shares each at $1.36 which was carried out privately and now showing a 0 balance? Is this by chance a transfer to this new closed end fund or something? Maybe a transfer to a Hold Co? But it says specifically a sale? Thanks.
