Q: I just read an article were the analyst was concerned about high margin levels. It got me thinking about the 5i investment philosophy. Do you ever consider factors like this or where we are in the business cycle, or investor sentiment, or is that all just noise.Are the fundamentals of the company and its growth prospects the main determinant for you?

Q: Each day I check Member Question to see if a stock that I hold is being written about. Is it possible for 5iResearch to have software that has a database of stocks that are of interest to each member. Then when that stock is mentioned in Member Questions, an e-mail notice would be sent to the individual client to inform them that a stock of interest to them is being mentioned. I believe such a program would be very useful to 5iResearch members & complimentary to the services 5iResearch provides.

Q: Could I get your opinion on averaging down. I owe 10000 shares of Sherritt that I bought at $7/share. I am considering purchasing an additional 500 shares at $4.5/share to bring my average cost down. Is this a wise choice or a losers game. Thanks.

Q: my question is on Trevali mining(TV). i have been a shareholder for about 2 years and i am down about 35% , but so far that issue does not bother me at all. i feel the management will deliver the goods ....eventually. my issue or fear is that we get taken out at these ridiculous low prices.does TV look like a prime take out candidate in your opinion ? do you think Glencore could or would get involved in the bidding if someone tried to take out TV ? thanx norm

Q: There was an article in the paper today suggesting that Home Capital Group be shorted. The thesis is that the housing sector in Canada will be weak going forward and HCG will suffer. I just bought some after looking at it, and seeing positive comments from you and Jason Donville. I was also planning to purchase more in the next couple of weeks. Should I question my timing on this?

Q: Hi Peter
Glacier Media GVC is trading around $1.60 it pays a 5.00% yield.Book value from what i see is $4.20 a share, what I'm concerned about is the Intangibles which are listed as 395 million, this is a huge amount for such a small market cap stock is it not? would this also be considered goodwill?.Have i taken a big risk purchasing this stock here.?

I have lost 30% on G so far as I bought it at 41.50 and it is now 29.00. I have a small portfolio and Goldcorp is about 4% of my holdings.

Do you think I should buy some more now or wait.

Q: Hello Team, I am thinking about adding RPI.UN (Richards Packaging Income) to an RESP account. I like it because it is not very volatile and has a great yield. The time frame for the RESP is about 2-3 years before the funds are used, so I do not want anything too risky in there. The other stocks in this account presently are BCE and TD which are performing nicely, but I would like to have something else in there as well. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks

Q: Hello 5i team thank you for the great information you provide.i do own most of your model portfolio stocks except Gold corp and Syz instead I do own Bad and Wilan in my 80k portfolio.each stock aprox 4%.Now the question is regarding my kids resp in which I have about 16 k and contributing 5k/yr.which is invested in rbc 2025 fund @ close to 2% MER.and it has not done well so far.if I want to invest in good stocks which are my best choices? My kids are 9 and 5 yrs old.thank you for the great work.
