Q: Hi Peter and Team
I would like your comments and thoughts on Rogers Sugar (RSI).
I bought it for yield and has gone down 25% since I purchased it. Should I sell it and move on? If so, would you recommend a stock with reasonable yield and capital appreciation.

Q: Do you have a view on Redknee Solutions Inc (RKN)? This company has sometimes been compared with Constellation Software (CSU) so I am interested to know if it has the same potential as CSU. Thanks,

Q: Hi Peter and Ryan! It seems that my first try slipped your attention, so I do it again. I see that you are very reluctant in your companies' evaluation to be too enthusiastic. So far I read in this forum about one company to be great, Stantec - STN, and another one to be fabulous, Stella-Jones, SJ. Could you, please, name some other companies, in Canada and US, if they still happen to be around? Many thanks for all you do for us.

Q: I would appreciate your advice concerning Superior Plus convertible debentures. I am holding series G (7.5% coupon maturing Oct 31, 2016) which have a $11.35 conversion price and can be called as of Oct 31, 2014 if 125% above the conversion price. The debentures are currently trading at $128. Given that the share price is already just above the 125% call condition, and assuming it remains there, it is safe to expect that come this October they will be called by the company? When and if this is announced would the debenture price instantly drop? I am wondering if it makes sense to sell now with the small premium before they get called by the company?

Q: Are the Chinese companies listed on the NYSE subject to the same scrutiny as all other listed companies with regards to financials? Do you think it is safe to invest in a China company today? If so there are 3 companies that look interesting that I would only invest an 1/2 position in one of the possible following unless you think I should stay away: VIPS.US, BITA.US and XRS.US

Q: I have recently taken a small position in HHC (howard hughes company), as well as selling some out of the money puts (Oct140s, jan 130s). The more I read about this one, the more I like it. No dividend, but bought 6 prime properties around US, some at very distressed prices during the 2008/9 real estate crash. Debt ratio seems excellent as well as development opportunities on their properties. I would appreciate your view on this one, both pros and cons.

glad to hear that you are doing better, Peter, and not only because you offer us such great advice here.

My question is again about asset allocation and particularly fixed income. I have been happily riding the equity wave but think i should now put a portion of my portfolio in fixed income. So, my question is how would you apportion, say a $500,000 allocation to fixed income? I wouldnt want to put it all into CBO. So, i would be interested in hearing what you would doÉ

Q: I am looking at Concordia CXR. I know we have to look forward but this company was .96 a year ago, now around $36. It's not where it was was but where it is going but I can't get my head around the $36 price. I see they only have 14 million shares outstanding so that is a plus. But I am afraid as soon as I buy it they will do a financing to shore up the balance sheet and the stock will fall. Please help me forget where CXR was a year ago and think about the future.

Q: Peter, My portfolio contains 25 stocks with a dividend return of 3.9%.With the possibility of rising interest rates should I be reducing exposure to dividend paying stocks and rotating to growth stocks.I do not require the income for a couple of years!I have no exposure to metal and mining stocks(happily so).They seem to be coming into favour,do you have a favourite?

Q: In my RRSP, I own 101k of MD Stable Income Fund. They call it a seggregated annuity. In the last 3 months I got drips between 185-225$ which works out to 1.8% to 2.2%. The MER is 0.85%. I'm trying to decide if I should sell and put the proceeds in ZCS and CLF to get more yield, but, this fund seems to garantee capital, plus, holds commercial mortgages which adds diversity to my portfolio. Do you have any thoughts on this?
