Q: I hold a number of REITS in an registered account...AX.un BYD.un CSH.un GRT.un and HR.un, with BYD.un being 2 positions and the others being 1 position each. I have attempted to get a diversified mix of REITS in various sub-industries.
Does this mix seem reasonable for going forward for 3 to 5 years or should changes be made?
Also I have funds available to purchase another 1 REIT position in this registered account, aka RRSP. Would you suggest adding to the existing holds or adding another REIT.un, say MRC if it pays distributions rather than dividends?......Thanks....Tom

Q: I purchased COX.UN at $6.00 on 9 March 2009.I have the right to redeem the shares at NAV until 14 September. I cannot determine the NAV but shares are trading at $7.33 with a 12 month range of $7.20 to 9.40. Would you recommend redeeming the shares and investing the proceeds in shares with a better growth record? COX.UN pays no dividend. What would you recommend for a 80+ year old interested in growth and a dividend?

Q: Hi All,

In the recent market turmoil I slimmed down on a number of my holdings. As a result I have some cash to deploy.

Currently I have all of your 3 portfolio positions (50 bal/ 30 inc/ 20 Gr).

I would like to beef up these holdings with the cash avaialbale.

Could you please tell me which five stocks in each of your 3 portfolios (total of 15) you would suggest I purchase at this juncture.

Q: In a recent blog Danielle Park is suggesting that the Canadian banks may correct as much as 55% from their 52 week high. Do you think that a correction of this magnitude is probable given the present environment? I was hoping to buy TD at $47 which is about a 20% discount off its high. Q: Transcontinental Corp announced this week they entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Ultra Flex Packaging Corp which the company says doubles their packaging revenues and builds on their strategy to ensure their future growth path through diversification. The dividend is 4%. What is your overview of this acquisition and would you consider it a good time to buy the stock. Thanks

Q: I just returned home from visiting my grandchildren, and my little grandson "con" me into visiting "Gamestop". His real mission was to get version 3 of starwars for video game, and upon leaving I left $70.00 US poorer for the game. Upon returning home I have seen major advertising of all star war games and products by Disney on all major television stations no doubt pushing the Christmas theme.
My question is "would I be too late for the toy game as there appears to be great margins in these products and children really do wish to have latest version of all products"
Could I have your opinion of my thinking, and if you like it what names would you recommend. I was thinking of Hasboro and Mattel.

Purchased these stocks prior to the recent correction. Is it time to add, hold or step aside for now? WFC & CSCO are full positions and the others are partial.

Q: I hold almost all of the stocks in the 5i Model Portfolio, 10 stocks in the Growth Portfolio and 7 stocks in the Income Portfolio. I also have VUN for some US companies.
I believe I could add some international exposure and I have no bonds.
What would you suggest for an international ETF and bonds? Is this a good time to purchase bonds?
This would be a long term hold, about 10 years in my LIRA account.
