Q: Hello in a recent answer to question about the growth portfolio you mentioned some planned changes. Do you have approximate time when we will see those updates? I hold the majority of the stocks with the exception of about 8 stocks but thinking of holding off until I see the updates/changes.
Great work and wishing you all the best over the holidays. Looking forward to 2018 being a successful investing year
Thanks 5i

Q: Morning 5i,
What is the approximate portfolio Beta for both the Balanced and Growth Portfolio's at the moment, relative to their appropriate benchmarks?
Many thanks!

Q: HELLO Peter, This is more of a comment about the ongoing poor performance of the portfolio. Although we have a higher volatility but not the expected results. With 2% return since inception vs 12% annualized target return, do you think it needs an overhaul? Thanks for your consideration.
Q: Of the 23 stocks in your Growth Portfolio, which 2-3 stocks are the current best buys, relative to current price/valuation and seasonality of tax-loss selling season i.e., CRH. HWO, OTEX
Q: Hi,
Saw that you listed your top 5 growth stock to a subscriber.
What would be your top 5 (in order if possible) in each of the Balanced and the Income Portfolios.
Thanks.

Q: Well, i feel that you are being a little short on your patience with this company, i own many of the company's in the growth portfolio, and feel that you could easily replace 6 to 8 of them with better growth companies, before you dump ZCL, are we just becoming qrt. to qrt. investors now?
Q: Hi there, I already own most of the Balanced Equity Portfolio (except for the more conservative yield names) and am looking to add some names from the Growth Portfolio. At the current moment, what would be your top 5 best ideas from the Growth Portfolio to start with? Thank you for your great service!
Q: My daughter is just starting her investing journey and has probably 40 plus years until she needs the money. She has enough for 12 stocks and I have suggested she follow your balanced portfolio with a few growth stock added. Considering buying T, GUD, ENB, CCL.B, TV, BNS, TOY, PBH, SHOP, CAE. She understands SHOP as her mom was one of their early clients, but we are hesitant due to its incredible run up. Is this a good list and could you suggest two more stocks from one of the following areas. Tech, industrials or consumer. We are considering PHO, CSU, BYD.UN, KXS, OTEX, GC and SIS. Any other suggested changes would be appreciated. As a new investor I am sure she values some stability as she gets her feet wet but growth should be a prime objective. Of these stocks which one would you chose for her TFSA. Thanks for your insight. Please deduct appropriate credits.
Q: Hello, I will have to liquidate a substantial amount of my portfolio in the near future and figured I may as well take the opportunity to rebalance my holdings. My goal is to build a fully invested portfolio based on the 5i Balanced Equity portfolio core, with a minor growth tilt. I have read through the Q&A section thoroughly and have come up with the following solution and wanted your opinion:
NON-REG: AIF, BLX, PKI, WSP, XTC (5 holdings)
TFSA: CCL.B, CSU, KL, KXS, NFI, PBH, PHO, SHOP, SIS, SYZ, TOY (11 holdings)
RRSP: ATD.B, BYD.UN, CAE, CLS, ENGH, GSY, GUD, MX, SJ, PEO, ZZZ (11 holdings)
I have 2 questions (please feel free to deduct more credits if necessary):
1) Are there any names you would remove and/or swap out for other names? (I am nearing 30 holdings which from what I have read could be getting too large and inefficient) and
2) Is the division of holdings across the NON-REG/TFSA/RRSP best spread for growth efficiency?
As always, thanks for your amazing service!!

Q: Hello team,
Please advise what is in vogue regarding dividends accumulated in both registered and non registered accounts. I am able to reinvest these as it is not an issue in the non registered account, which has the bulk of the dividends. Would you recommend reinvesting in growth stocks,IE growth portfolio, or to plow back into the Beport stocks?
the dividends amount to roughly a 1/2 position in my current holdings.
Thanks
KC

Q: Hello,
With the market in a bit of a down spin these days which stocks from your Income, Growth and Balanced Portfolios do you think are good to top up now, with this current decline. Please choose your top 3 from each portfolio and why for each.
Thank You

Q: Hi there,
I currently own a slightly modified version of the Balanced Equity Portfolio (MG/XTC, SLF/GSY, BNS/ZZZ and ENB/BLX). In addition I also own SHOP, ZCL and PHO. In your opinion, do these 3 names from the Growth Portfolio represent your best ideas or would you substitute any of them at this time? I know SHOP had been one of your top ideas when it was trading at a much lower price - does it still remain as one of your top ideas with the recent run up in price?
Also, I noticed Peter had selected BOYD as a top pick when he was last on Market Call. I was curious to know if this is somewhat of an indirect play on the auto sector and if I should swap XTC for BOYD at this time?
Thanks for your excellent service and advice!

Q: Could 5i please list the companies that are no longer followed or no longer in portfolios due to under-performance? The dates they were pulled would be great too. Thank you.
Q: For someone just building a portfolio, which 12 stocks would you recommend from your portfolios for solid growth, medium to high risk, 1-3 year holds? I currently own only GUD at 6% weighting.
Is it possible to get approximate dates as to when the various stocks were added to your portfolios? Some of the stocks have moved considerably higher (like CCL.B, CSU, KXS, SHOP, etc) so wondering if they are still buys at current prices....
Thanks very much.

Q: THANK YOU for the sector info on the Portfolios reports-good to have!
Q: Could you give a list of 5i's portfolio holdings that you consider provides a significant (partial) substitute for direct U.S. or International investment choices, along with a rough percentage of how much of each holding you feel would qualify for our "non-Canadian" portion ? Many thanks.
Q: How would the Growth Portfolio react if there was a 5% correction in the markets? Which stocks would be more volatile than the others? Thanks.
Q: I am planning to own all stocks in growth, income and model portfolio excluding ETF.
I would allocated Growth = 1%, Income = 1.75% and Model = 2.25%
Do you think this is the good strategy and it will work going forward?
Total stocks = 59.
I set up dummy portfolio since Nov 2016 and it has the gain of 11%.
Currently, I own all stocks in Model portfolio with 3% waiting and it has gain 6%
My portfolio is over 500K
Thanks for the great service.

Q: Hi Team
I just read Peter's column in the NP and thanks to 5i have been successful with ZCL.
Without concern for sectors, how would you rank the other four going forward?
Thanks
