Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Peter, A question regarding book value. If a stock is below its book value say like CTU.A, could it not make it a wise investment longer term should one feel the future value of the company could rebound or be bought out? I'm not saying it will be, but trying to understand the roll of book value vs. share value when evaluating stocks. I guess RIM would be a similar case. Interested in your thoughts.

Q: re: Neptune (NTB on the TSX)

This company has been pumped for years, but seems to be developing a niche in the nascent nutraceutical krill oil market (offering strong competition to the huge and traditional fish oil
supplement market). It has however disappointed in the functional food market (no deal with Nestle or Yoplait, which were touted for years - and an anemic relationship, so far, with Bayer).

My question is (I am off the opinion that their nutraceutical business is a long-term winner) if their subsidiary Acasti does NOT prove successful in their clinical trials with their prospective pharmaceutical, Capre, what would the fair market value be of NTB shares likely be (the share price is pumping upward, as I type).

Thanks....

Q: Hi Peter. Is there a way for an individual small investor to "play" or take advantage of oil or natural gas as a commodity without having to purchase shares in a company. I was watching natural gas earlier this year when it dropped below $2 and figured it might be a buying opportunity but didn't know how to take advantage of it. Anything you can suggest will be helpfull, or should I avoid the sector entirely? Thanks in advance, Bo

Q: Hi Peter. What is your opinion of the Canadian oil and natural gas sectors for the next 12 months. Is this a good time to buy or do you see further downside to oil and gas pricing.

Q: Hi Peter,
Do you view Canadian Helicopters Group Inc (CHL) as being both a growth stock and a dividend grower?
What are the potential risks beyond being somewhat linked to the mining sector?
Do you see them being beneficiaries of the massive influx of money to the Plan Nord project in Quebec?
Is this pullback a good entry point? Is there a specific reason for the pullback?
Thanks in advance.
