Q: CSS - pretty healthy drop today. No news. Do you know why? Is it a sell or should I buy more?

Q: CSS Contrans is a bit weak today. I imagine it is because of TransForce reporting which the market didn't like it. How much should one draw from TransForce's earnings in relating to CSS? I got a 2/3 weighting in CSS before it ran away from me so am looking for a good pullback to buy the other 1/3.

Q: I'm thinking of buying Ainsworth Lumber (ANS)to take advantage of the housing recovery in N.A.. What do you think of this company and do you think the recovery in housing still has plenty of room to run. As always, thanks in advance for your valuable advice.

Q: Peter,

Just a general question. For interlisted stocks lets say ANV, if there is very high demand lets say in Canada and low demand in the US, what removes the arbitrage between the two prices. I am always perplexed as the volumes in the US are pretty high and is it US or Canada which determines the prices to be followed.

Q: I must say I can't really envision buying Barrick even if the sector were to recover. With all the cost overruns they have with that big project in Chile maybe it's a relief to them that the government has shut them down. I thought the Goldstrike mine in Nevada was their big profit generator but is the ore body almost exhausted? Why does Peter Munk have such influence on the company - I am told he has very few shares?

Q: Do you think SNC Lavalin is a short? Do you think SNC can generate enough legitimate earnings to make up for the loss of their "other" earnings? According to the news the World Bank has cut them off for 10 years. The CBC national news was promoting an soon upcoming documentary on SNC paying bribes to Bangledeshi public servants in order to score a new bridge funded by the World Bank. Thanks (I have never shorted a stock and don't expect to now but I am curious none-the-less).

Q: REF.UN I have held this stock in my rrsp for several years now, so long that I forget why I thought it was such a good buy at the time. The stock has paid me handsomely and I am thinking of adding to my position but it already represents 8% of my rrsp portfolio. What is your opinion? I am most concerned about long term dividend safety as I am retired and need my rrsp to generate income for me. In light of the fact that its 8% of my portfolio maybe diversification would be a better idea? Thanks for your input.

Q: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/investment-ideas/wi-lan-is-no-investment-for-a-senior/article11347244/ůmr. Mr. Hodson. I thought of sending you the above regarding Wi-Lan (WIN). Any particular comment? Thank you for your attention regarding a once-loved, but increasingly annoying stock. Should you look into the comments, you will see some investors are still supporting the stock, as much as you do. Regards.

Q: Hello, Peter & Staff: After buying Bell Aliant (BA) for my TFSA three years ago at 26.00, it's still at 26.00 today. The dividend is very nice, but no growth after three years is a little discouraging. Now that Telus is at a more affordable price, and even though it's dividend is about half that of BA, I would like your opinion of selling BA and buying Telus - or perhaps Manitoba Tel. Part of my reason for purchasing BA was I thought it might be a buy-out at the time, but it would appear that such is not the case. Thank you for your advice and your much appreciated service. John
