My question is about the Constellation Software Rights(CSU.RT). The way I calculate things, each right should be worth around 24 cents ($5/21.192). Why would they be trading at 41 cents, 70% higher?
Am I missing something or making a calculation error?
Hi- Rocky Mountain has done very badly in the last view years- though you seem to like Cervus better- why? Could you please compare the two businesses and their outlooks?
Thanks very much.
Q: Hi Peter and team, I would like your advice on 2 stocks for my tfsa, I currently have a position in DHX so am looking for something similar with high growth potential but medium to high risk.
Thanks
Without knowing all my other holdings, in a well diversified portfolio, growth and income being my objective at this time. Would you incourage a simple switch: Selling Contrans (CSS) with a small profit for Trimac ( TMA)
Q: DHX: Good article in Canadian business. Is the next Disney in Halifax? They are working on a new hit comparable to Johnny Test. If they get a new hit and merchandising and licensing agreements on toys, figurines, etc., that could be a big deal? Is the stock up because of this article or getting more attention as a growth oriented company? Looking at the p/e it seems like people are paying for huge growth potential. Is it getting pricey to add to it? Would you add if you owned, weighing factor not an issue. Thanks.
Q: Syz is getting to be a big part of my portfolio, but it keeps going up on light trading,it looks like you lightened up on it in model port.at some time.Any advice?
Q: Good morning fine team
I am revisiting my sector balance and realize that it is difficult to find one source to narrow down what the sectors are; Can you please sort this out
AYA - Consumer Cyclical or Leisure service
BDI - Energy or Diversified Services
BYD.UN - Mutual Fund (Diversified Services)
CGX - Consumer Cycl or Services (Media)
DH - Info Tech or Services (Business)
STN - Industrials (Manuf) or Diversified Services
XTC - Cons Cyclical or Ind/Manuf
Also some REITS are called Financial/Real Estate?
The term "Services" seems to cross many sectors???
Thank you for all you do. The more I learn from you, the more I realize there is to learn - very enjoyable
Q: Amaya Aya received regulatory approval and shareholder approval. So is it a done deal? Do they actually own rational now or are they still doing due diligence on the company and is it still a possibility the deal may not close if they find skeletons in the closet?
Q: question on BYD.UN. Have had a good run with this one it is now as of today 12% of my portfolio. In your comments you perceive it to be a solid company so my questions is do I trim or let it run. Thanks for your valuable advice.
Q: Hello 5i team,
I have an exposure to the auto industry through LNR and MG and have made significant gains so far; in order to maintain the overall exposure to the auto industry, I am thinking of taking some profit (on a pro rata basis) and buy shares of ACQ.
Your opinion is most valuable
Tony
Q: Concerning Tricon (TCN). You commented on an earlier question that the housing market in the US was strengthening and that Canadian lumber companies were showing increases from this. I also noticed that a large home builder in the US, Pulte Homes, has shown recent strength as well. My question is why Tricon stock does not seem to be participating in this rebound. Are their projects still too far off or perhaps the rental market not improving. Really appreciate your insights.
Q: Hi Peter, WIN Wi-LAN has moved steadily up over the last month since it's low. Given the non sale of the company and some changes to the business model do you see stability or further volatility?
Thank you.
Q: Re: HLP.UN I have read question/answer by Allan on Aug 18.
Your guidance was - "you need to tender your shares to the deal".
I'm a "new" investor. I own some of this stock. I don't understand what I need to do in this situation. Would you kindly provide further guidance.
Q: DHX shares have moved up nicely from the time of your report this spring; my broker lists upcoming Q4 earnings estimate as 1 cent (4 analysts) and revenues of $30.7 mm (almost unchanged from last Q) with the big jump in earnings and revenue projected for next Q1. Do you agree with these numbers and what is the short position?
Also who are its peers (broker lists only tiny ones such as ZUM) and does a lot of the potential growth come from the foreign operations where it gets 30% of revenue and what countries does DHX operate in? Thanks, J.
Q: Sold some of my TRP to do some re-balancing and looking to buy similar quality and yield.Do not need energy, telcos or financials.Would appreciate some ideas.I was thinking Corby but maybe this is dead money. Thanks for your suggrstions.
Q: Rumours that magna mg.a executives are looking at an acquisition specifically possibly a division of Johnson controls or all of Lear industries. Is there a canadian company they might be interested in like martinrea.
