Q: Hi and Happy New Year to all
My question concerns Chorus CHR.B. They announced a partial redemption of 9.5% debentures, $60 million or 75%. Would you see this as having a positive impact on the stock. The dividend was raised to 0.45, which is a high yield on a $4.00 stock.

I am thinking of purchasing LIQ but noticed it has rallied significantly in the past few days. What do you think of this company? Should I be aggressive to purchase it at current levels or can I be patient and accumulate it on dips?

Q: Hi Peter and Team: Over time I've been trying to make my portfolio as similar as possible to your model. Since I own two of the big Canadian telcos in a separate portfiolio, I've been looking for something else to fill the missing 5%. I recently looked at tower companies. These are interesting, in particular because the three biggest US tower companies are rated "buys" by Morningstar, with fair values larger that their market value. However, based on their fundamentals (via Morningstar) I'm not sure what their growth prospects are (dividents are small to zero). I've heard some hype to the effect that 4G network proliferation will push their prices up. Can you shed any light on this family of stocks, in particular, American Tower (AMT, US)? Also, it and some others are now REITs. Does this cause any complications for a Canadian resident?

Q: Hello 5i Team,

My children's RESP contain the following:
ALPS Alerian MLP ETF NYSE: AMLP, First Trust Dow Jones Global Select Dividend Index Fund NYSE:FGD
and a Canadian bank RBC, for a total value of $17,000. Its about five years till the kids will use the money. My question is, what should I invest in to make this better, I’m thinking some growth stocks.

Q: Thanks so much for your great service and all the best for 2014 as you gain momentum which is the theme of my question. I have noticed that you often mention your appreciation for 'momentum' and I wonder how one identifies this quality in a timely way. For example, I missed out on BAD since I was waiting for a pullback that never came, and I have some Y and Y.WT arising from a bad investment in a preferred of the old Yellow Pages, and these have had tremendous momentum recently (8.66 on May1 to 21 now). Again, I didn't add to my meagre holdings, but it would have been wise to do so, in retrospect. In short, I wonder if there are ideas on how to assess this fairly common phenomenon of watching a stock continue to rise, knowing, of course, that it will end sometime. Perhaps the short answer is that i should ask you as soon as I notice such movement! But I wonder if you have particular guidelines that you follow is assessing whether it is 'a bit late' to join the party, or not too late. Thanks.

Your thoughts on ALX. I know you commented back in early December, but wonder if you think it's worth a punt at the current share price. Sounds like you agree that management is impressive. My question is - would you give them the benefit of the doubt at the current share price? Would you wait for a pull back?
