Q: Peter and Team,

My bond portfolio is currently made up of HFR, CBO, and CLF. I was curious if you know if there are ETF's that are similar to these but holding US bonds that you would feel comfortable with? Basically I am looking for 1 - 5 year laddered Government, 1 - 5 year laddered Corporate, and Floating Rate US Bonds.

I was thinking hedged ones might be best given CAD is down so much but I would consider un-hedged as well.

Q: I know why people short stock.They just raised the dividend by 10 % and someone came out and states they will run out of cash by year end thus they are shorting it.What am I missing.

Q: I was reading over the report on ACQ and noted the statement "that they are no longer the only publicly traded option out there", but observe that you don't name the others (and I am not familiar with them). Would you consider adding a section to your reports to show other publicly traded companies that might be compared and contrasted before deciding to buy a specific stock? Even a partial listing of alternates would be interesting.

Q: I haven't been able to find any previous comments on Horizons Global Fixed Income ETF (HAF). It is an actively managed fund and I would appreciate your insight. I am basically looking for exposure to global bonds for my wife's bond portfolio and any thoughts on other Canada-based ETF's to achieve this purpose would be appreciated. She already holds XBB, VBU, ZEF (very small position), and ZHY (also small). Thanks!

Q: found a note on my desk to buy bhp at 60 and now its just about cut in half. Its a large cap that is in an out of favour sector with a pe of 10 but has raised its dividend for the last five years.Its dividend now stands at 6.6 .My question is at what rate would the dividend support the price?

Q: What are your thoughts on Black Diamond as a dividend/long term investment. They are down a great deal due to oil. Also ROE and ROIC has gone down the last few years (usually not a good sign).

Would it be a good time to buy? Is the dividend sustainable?

From historical financial statement, its revenue didn't show impressive growth.

Q: Hi 5i: Could you please comment on Trevali's 2nd Quarter results? Also, what is the outlook for zinc? While I can find information on the iron ore and copper outlook, I can't find much on zinc in the sources I have access to.

Q: Currently I have the following mix of Brookfield stocks: BAM 2.8%; BIP 3.6% and BEP 4.4%. This means that these Brookfield shares comprise 10.8% of my portfolio. Are these 3 companies diverse enough that I should keep them at these levels? When they are compared on a 3 year chart they appear to be very different.

Q: Hi Peter and the team, ABT is showing strength today as it's up a bit over 9%. Is this due to the deal signed between Absolute and AMD (the chip maker)? I'm not complaining, as ABT has been quite a laggard lately. What are your thoughts and/or recommendations going forward? Thanks in advance as always for the timely and valuable advice.

Q: RCPT (RECEPTOS) has an offer to purchase from Celgene (via Strix .. a subsidiary of Celgene).
RCPT is trading at $231.46 and the offer from Celgene is for $232.00 net to the holder in cash without interest (the offer price) and subject to any withholding taxes required by applicable law.
1 .. Is the offer a good one as some think it's very low?
2 .. How do I find out about the withholding taxes (as I understand sometimes there's a dividend that can take a big bite from profits)?
3 .. Would I do better just to hold the RCPT stock and sell it myself?

Q: My wife and I currently still own these energy and resource stocks: FRU, PD, IPL, ENB, PPL, SGY, BTE, CEU & TCK.b - 12.12% of our total portfolio.
Your opinion on whether to sell some/all(names), keep some/all(names) for recovery and with any sells to reinvest in sectors doing better like domestic consumer staples, et. or just sit in cash until the market settles a bit?
