Q: What is your take on MRE- The auto part company. According to an article in Seeking Alpha it has upto 60% upside.
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Your opinion on whether to purchase TransCanada Pipe OR Canadian Utilities. As far as I can tell, both have a long history of increasing dividends. For long term dividend income play; if you had to pick one, which would it be?
Thank you
Thank you
Q: Hi Team : any comments on the LOY announcement re: Franchising overseas? This seems like a smart move on their part. Thanks
Q: Hi, happy new year. TFSA time, last year you advised MCB which I bought and has been terrifc (60%)gain. It is now over $7 do you beleive it is a good buy over the next 12 months. I also have RY,SLF,GH,ESL,ZRE do you think BDI would be a reasonable addition. Or any suggestion you have is always appreciated. Thanks for your help, fabulous service.
Q: BBD.PR.B perpetual, cumulative, floating at Prime, Preferred from Bombardier
Would this preferred share be a good long term holding? With a current yield of ~5.25%, when BOC does finally increase the overnight lending rate, each quarter point increase bumps up the monthly dividend. With $20 billion on the order books, the company looks safe for paying the dividends. Please give me your thoughts.

Q: I can't decide what to do with Paladin (PLB): every time I go to sell it, the stock moves up sharply. Furthermore, I get confusing news and analyst downgrades on Endo (ENDP). The long quote below (sorry) is a sample of what confuses me. Does the market think that Endo would be better off without NuPathe? Any clarification you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
"NuPathe (PATH) looked to start a bidding war between Endo Health Solutions (ENDP) and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (TEVA). .... NuPathe, meanwhile, said that it's reviewing a $114 million buyout offer from Teva, topping Endo's $105 million bid, which NuPathe accepted last month. .... Last week, Cantor Fitzgerald downgraded Endo based largely on the NuPathe acquisition, saying that the upcoming launch of its migraine treatment Zecuity would likely face stiff competition."

Q: As a comment to Neil who wrote about SYZ, as a fellow chartist - who never made a lot of money reading charts and is trying to take a more fundamentalist approach (thanks 5i), to add to your woes, there is a Head and Shoulders formation trying to form on the weekly chart. If the price drops below about 6.70 it will have completed. Also, on the daily chart, there is an intermediate triangle in place - the bulls and bears have less than a week to decide who will win out; since the downtrend is still in place, the bears will like prevail.
My observation about Fundamentalists and Technical Analysts is that all professionals never lose site of either, only emphasize one over the other. 5i wrote a few weeks back, that us Techies usually want to "market time" which he stated he does not believe in.

Q: I am looking to add a small high-yield oil/gas company, more for income than growth. Could you rank Whitecap, Surge and Torq in your order of preference (looking at distribution stability first then growth potential) and comment on your list. Any others that you would prefer in this list? Thanks
Q: CCA Cogeco Cable. What do you think of this seemingly very cheap stock? Is it a good sector for this stage of the market?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Happy New year to all. First, I must tell you this the best investment concept I have ever seen. Your integrity and focus on the individual investor is so far advanced the rest are going backward. There is no agenda and we, the investors, just sit back and get, or see through other investor questions and your answers, the most honest advice possible. The price of admission was paid on my first transaction. Thank you so much for doing what you do.
My question; I bought Chartwell at +7 something get a great dividend return, have a nice profit but like all REIT'S do you think there is a growth story here or are we now spinning the wheels.
Again, thanks for all you do. Chartwell is 6.2% of my Portfolio.

Q: Having heard Christine Poole today not being too keen on the auto parts industry, how does this fit in with xtc? I have made
a little in it and wonder if I should sell and get into something else for now. They will be having their AGM on Jan. 29. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

Q: Re: SYZ
Long time (close to original?) subscriber, just renewed for two more years. Thank you for providing the subscriber discount - it again shows your ethics and the fairness with which you treat your subscribers (which is in addition to the great info you provide).
Anyway, enough of the accolades.
Sylogist (a member of your portfolio) has been pretty much sideways since August. Technically, (sorry, I'm a bit of a chartist - I know you aren't) it has fallen below its 20 and 50 day moving averages and is showing significant negative divergences on both MACD and RSI. (Not good technical signs). While I appreciate you may be "comfortable" with the stock here, my question is what do you see as being necessary to move this stock upward and what might be the chances of that happening.
Though I ask very few questions, I really appreciate your responses.
Thank you
Neil

Q: Good Morning Peter and Team,
I purchased Genivar (GNV-T) now called WSP Global (WSP-T) back when the shares got whacked after the purchase of WSP. The share price has run up nicely since then and I am considering switching to Stantec since STN has recently pulled back a bit. When I look at both companies, side by side, Stantec looks to be the better run business based upon profitability, share dilution, balance sheet, etc. Also the dividend that WSP pays out forces them to issue shares and borrow in order to grow. Stantec looks to be run by a far more disciplined management. I would appreciate your opinion of the switch. Thank you. DL

Q: Good evening,
I am wondering whether you could recommend an ETF(s) that focuses upon emerging market economies smaller than the BRIC countries such as MIST or TIMPs. Speculative risk is not an issue. Thank you for your help.

Q: Good morning - I am comparing HCG & FN.
HCG - PE 11 Yield 1.4% Payout Ratio 15%
FN PE 8.8 Yield 5.9% Payout Ratio 53%
I also assume that both companies will be affected by raising interest rates.
Your thoughts please.
Thank you as always
