Q: I am not a big fan of the large CAD oil producers (Suncor, CCQ) which I believe are more than able to increase dividends, but are not particularly shareholder friendly and the the major holdings in most energy ETF's. What is your opinion of ZEO, the BMO equal weight energy ETF?

Q: I own the convertible debenture of Sterling shoes SSI. I know the company went into receivership but I cannot find any further information. Would you know what happened to this company since and is their any chance of getting any money back.

Q: Yesterday Carl Icahn said that he if "fully hedged" right now due to the stupid political games etc being played out in DC and the resulting market uncertainty.

1. What would "fully hedged" mean in the context of a Carl Icahn?
2. How can the rest of us non Carl Icahns hedge our portfolios?

Q: Hello Peter & team.
I bought DCI-T (direct payments) a while ago at $25.49 & wonder if it is worth keeping. I am retired, like dividends & some growth & have a 3 to 5 year time horizon. DCI is now less than 1% of my portfolio. Should I keep it or move on to something else ?

Q: Hi Team 5i - I'm interested in buying an investment in the railroad industry without buying the rail companies. I believe a company called Trinity (TRN) manufactures rail cars. If so, do you think the company is a good investment at it's present level? Do you know of other companies that provide services for the rail industry that are current buys?

Q: BPO: I bought call options of BPO at 0.63$ with an expiry date in January at 19$. Those options are now worth 3.75$. What would be the impact of each scenarios: 1- Selling my options now 2- Buying BPO shares at the expiry date 3- if the buy back is before expiry date, take the cash and shares of BPP in the offer.

Q: Regarding the BPY.UN takeover of BPO I have a 60% gain on BPO in my taxable acct. I had read yesterday (can't find the reference now) that I could elect to rollover my BPO shares to BPY.UN on a tax deferred basis so I would not crystallize my Capital Gain and have to pay tax.
Is my interpretation correct? I am certainly comfortable holding the combined entity and receiving the higher dividend.

This latest acquisition of American Pride seems good; paying 25% of sales. I'm concerned that they paid nothing for goodwill which may indicate that it is losing money. Please comment.
