Q: What do you think of Genivar (TSX: GNV) at this point? I'm thinking of holding this for yield for the long term.

Q: Hi 5i: Peter I can't thank you enough for 5i. I can no longer get BNN. You are my only source of current and up-to-date financial information. Newspapers are wonderful, but the financial news is past tense by the time it makes it to print.
I am currently watching TCK.b. What are your thoughts on this stock. (buy, sell or hold). Cathy

Q: Southern Pacific just seems to be hated by the market. They brought their plant into operation on time and budget (something almost unheard of lately), yet they seem to get no respect. Do you think its a good investment or will it continue to be a pariah?
Q: Could I please have your opinion on Perseus Mining (PRU).

Q: Hi Peter & 5i: This is further to Bryan's (Feb 24) question and one or two other recent ones. I want to be very careful with my grasp of the income tax info. Can you just let me know if this accords with your understanding? The superficial loss rule requires that a specified number of days must pass before any reacquisition of a stock sold at a loss, in order to preserve the seller's right to claim the capital loss for tax purposes. The rule does not prevent one from repurchasing the stock; it just means that if you repurchase it too soon then you lose the right to claim the capital loss on the prior sale. Because the rule only concerns sales where a capital loss could be claimed, it simply does not apply to sales in RSPs or TFSAs. If you take a loss in those accounts, there is simply no capital loss relief available. But, after a sale for a loss in a taxable account, a subsequent repurchase in ANY of your accounts (RSPs and TFSAs included) would compromise your right to claim the loss, unless you waited at least the required number of days before repurchasing. Is that about right? Thanks!
Q: What is your take on "967 eleven eleven Pizza Pizza" or PZA?
I see that this company is just a hold on TDWaterhouse rating but it pays a decent dividend. It has been around for agesand i still remember the radio catch phrase. It would I believe be a good complement to Boston Pizza and even the Keg... all of them at different markets/price points.

Q: Hi Peter, This is just a general question. Funds in my company registered pension account are managed by Great West Life. Right now i have 100% money in high risk account (Leith Wheeler). I am looking at 10 - 15 yrs horizon. What would be the right approach as i can transfer funds from one fund to another fund like US Equity Index, conservative fund and bonds without paying any transfer fees??? Should i be moving money from aggressive to conservative in case of correction and move back to agressive once there is indication that correction is over. Thanks for the guidance
Q: Hello - Has there been any change in your opinion of Pason Systems (PSI).? Their last quarter was not great but they still have a good balance sheet. I have been a long term holder and am reluctant to sell at this point.Keep up the good work! Thanks , Joe

Q: Hi 5iResearch,
Thank you for continuing to provide this Members Question service. I for one really appreciate this and is one of the reasons I've recently renewed my membership for another year.
My question today may be a bit outside of your universe of coverage being a stock in the US markets. I would like to know your opinion on Western Union (NYSE:WU). I see that it's taken a beating last October and it's slowly recovering. I've noticed that the Price-to-Earnings ratio is really low and the Return on Equity is really high, which suggests a great value play. Do you agree?

Q: Most impressed that you even answer questions on Saturdays and Sundays, that's true dedication! Gold is getting a lot of bad press these days, everything from death crosses to a "Gold Obit" from CIBC. If an investor was to take a contrarian position on this, I am interested in your thoughts on the Horizons Enhanced Income Gold ETF (HEP). It is showing a very high yield and a price close to its 52 week low. Thanks, Chuck
Q: Greetings Peter and 5i Team. Peter I recently saw you on Market Call/BNN...after hearing your philosophy I rushed to sign up to be a member of 5iResearch. Love it so far!
My question is, other than the top picks you gave on Market Call, do you ever publish a 'top picks list' here on 5iResearch from time to time ? Thank you...I'll hang up an listen ;)
