Q: Hello Peter
Longrundata.com give a wonderful list of companies in the US that have increased dividends every year for 25 years or more. I have hunted and cannot find an equivalent list for Canadian stocks. Do you know where to look or maybe some of 5i readers may know.

Q: Hello,
In the energy sector of my portfolio (12% weight), I hold CPG, FRU, KEY, TOU and VET. I'm considering adding BTE to the mix; on the + side, a great strategic acquisition (product and geography) and a nice yield while I wait; but on the - side, financing digestion issues.
Your thoughts?

Q: Hello 5i Team. I have just gone on my own with my RSP (now RIFF) with my 9 holdings. I want to switch some and buy more to get close to your Model Portfolio. Here is what I own and have owned for many years. BCE-11.25%, Enbridge-17.93%, Fortis-11.91%, Imperial Oil-13.52%, Manulife Financial-5.87%, Teck Res (TCK.B)-7.85%, TD-18.93%, UEX (bought at over $7.00 now .48cents)-.47%. Which if not all of the Model Portfolio would you suggest and what should I sell if any? I will keep UEX out of spite and when I'm old and grayer perhaps it will come back :)...you're the best and thank you ahead of time.

Q: Good Morning from Thailand,
Sorry, but the weather is just gorgeous here in Chiang Mai! I have holdings in PAAS (and PAA), PSLV, IAG, HMY (about 20% of portfolio). I'm winning on PAAS AND PAA but IAG AND HMY am on the losing side. I have read your previous comments on FR and SLW. I recently picked up some FR and do like SLW for its leverage on the price of silver. Would you recommend taking profits and buying SLW and/or more of FR to keep my 20% weighting? Furthermore would you recommend selling IAG and HMY and replacing them with something else? Thanks for your service and let me know if you would like weather updates.

just above the stock symbol box, if you click on this it provides the exchange suffix required:

Enter any symbol followed by a 'period' and then the country code.
For example: BCE on the Toronto Stock Exchange would be BCE.TSX
All Results are in local currency.

Q: Hi Peter,

Thanks for the great service.

The Gold sector seems to be recovering. As I look at the charts for the companies, one seems to stand out as having had less impact during the fall from $1,900-odd to $1,200-odd. It has a small dividend and is participating in the recent rise. It is Franco-Nevada (FNV-T). Given that those companies that get beaten up the least during tuff times tend to be the leaders in a recovery, is this a company you would recommend ? Are there other that you favour more ?

Q: re IVW on TSE. I bought into IVW some time ago to find a way to lever into Chinese car production and electric bicycle batteries. The company seems to have gotten past a very unlucky few years and I am prepared to load up some more with stocks I believe in. To add to some more due diligence I believe Peter might know some of the key players esp Trevor Eaton and Wayne Richardson. They have had dealings with Sprott. What are your thoughts on their capabilities and fraternity of mining folks who I have always believed is nothing more than a self interest group. Perhaps not on the scale of the energy sector but I always am sceptical by policy. The Chinese transportation sector is juicy but difficult to lever into, hence my interest in lead.

Q: HI Peter
I am up 140% on IFP.A (4.7% of portfolio) and 102% on CFP (3.8% of portfolio. Are there any changes in the sector that suggest taking profit at this time? IFP just purchased a Georgia forest company,Ilim Timber ($130 cash plus 3.68 million shares). Do you expect they will need to make a new issue to finance this and if so would the resulting dilution be a reason to sell at this time?

Q: Hi Si group. Really need some good investment ideas, choices, recommendations as I am creating a new TFSA for our four grandchildren, ages 2 to 9 years. Will invest initially about $1300.00 per child. Would like those investments/equities to have potential growth, reasonably good financials, as they will be long term holds, with some dividends in the future.
