Q: Hello 5i,I'm thinking of buying Canadian Utilities(CU) for an RRSP but wondering if it is too expensive and wondering also if it is always expensive. Will a stock like this ever have a pull back?
I just joined 5i and love the service. Great job!
Q: Hi Team, What is wrong with EDR?? It is floating below 200 MA and is down by 20% in last few months. Should i just book my loss and move on or hold or avg?? Thanks for your help.
Q: There was a full page of publicity by Graphite One (GPH.V) in the National Post (Financial Post) on January 28, 2013. Is this an interesting stock ?
Q: This is a follow-up to your answer on DGI indicating you thought it was improving but still risky due to debt largely. They have a convertible debenture with a fair yield that is trading between 70-75. Would this be reasonable for a good yield to maturity?
My question concerns fees I pay for my RRSP and RESP accounts. I am currently with a large Canadian Bank and have approximately 250k invested. Although I get 90 free trades per year ( exercising maybe 30 of those) and have access to a personal advisor I find the advice stale and generic. I am making all the investment choices on my own aside from a few bond investments my advisor has made for me.
I currently pay about $3500 in fees. Is this reasonable? Especially in light of what I'm getting in return. I find over the course of my membership with 5i I have benefitted much more than my entire relationship with my bank.
Q: Hi Peter - just joined - have seen u on BNN. Do u have a current REIT in the space you like and if not would XRE or ZRE be a good choice at this time?
Thanks

Q: Peter, with the growth we have had in Cr Point over the years I feel it is time to lower our holdings in it by about 23%.In order to replace the income from this 23% I am thinking of putting it into Baytex 63% Eagle energy 24% and Parrallel energy 13%. We need the extra yield from Eagle and or Parralel to get the same income we had from it being in Cr, Point. Your opinion please? I feel Baytex is very good. Eagle or Parralel? Thanks Ken
Q: Hi, on a Jan 20th comment you said U.S. dividends are subject to a 15% withholding tax, which can be partly recoverable? What do you mean by that? Is there a form we would have to fill out for tax filing? Or is it already calculated in our T forms? My 2nd question is how do we claim a tax loss on bankrupt companies that are not tradable anymore and is just unfortunately sitting there in our accounts?
Q: Peter; When possible could you update comments on PBH? It just did a small acquisitions and is commissioning a new processing plant.Do you feel the dividend is safe and the debt level manageable ?Thanks.
Q: Wonderful concept and information. As Canada is a small market, with little exposure to some sectors, will you ever be reporting on foreign investments? (assuming geographic diversification is a good thing, especially when the CAD$ is high?)
Q: Low volume has always been a concern for me when choosing a company, yet 13 of the companies on this site regularly trade below 30,000 shares a day and 7 trade below 10,000. Could you share your thoughts on low volume and how that affects your choice of companies? Thank you.
Q: Hi Folks.....re New Flyer....I am happy with the recent growth in price of course and the divvy is important to me. Where would a good place be to set a stop loss? Thnx
