Q: I have a full position in AVO, BCI, CXI, DHX, EFN, LMP, PHM, PLI and XTC. Overweight in IWO and half positions in CDV and GXI.
I am wondering which growth stock I should add next, or maybe just increase my CDV and GXI holdings.
This would be on margin borrowing and I am okay with leveraged investment at this point in time. While I understand these are meant for 3-5 year holdings, perhaps your suggestion could factor in a 1-3 year period as an additional variable.
I would appreciate your suggestion as well as your opinion on leveraged investing for the growth portfolio.

Q: Hi,

I have added nearly all the equities in the Growth Portfolio (excluding financials and IWO) to my holdings with percentages ranging from 1% (SCR, QHR) to about 4% (DRT, XTC). I also have CHR, ET, CLR, ESP, KLS, SIS, RZZ, THO, MTSN, SYZ, CPH, RX and WEF among other holdings in my entire portfolio which 5i has had a favorable view in the recent months. My question is whether this portfolio will be too risky in a market correction as I believe more in Small Cap growth than large caps. Plus one or two takeovers will boost this portfolio a lot. What do you think would the right strategy here. Thanks

Uranium names are showing notable strength today following yesterday's ruling in Japan that will allow the Sendai nuclear plant to reopen, which would be the first plant to be reopened since the Fukushima disaster: CCJ +6.8%, DNN +5.6%, LEU +10.3%, URRE +4.5%, UEC +5%, URZ +2.6%, URG +1%, UUUU +1.7%.
The news is positive for the nuclear industry to the extent that authorities in Japan have not given up on the energy source despite Fukushima.
A MarketWatch article paints a bright picture of the nuclear industry, with uranium prices rising ~35% since last summer and improving public opinion; "China and India believe that the upside from the clean energy from nuclear far outweighs the downside risks of sticking to dirty coal,” says GoldStockTrades.com editorJeb Handwerger.
Last week, CCJ signed a deal with India to provide 7.1M lbs. of uranium concentrate over the next five years.

Q: I am lacking a bit in consumer staples/discretionary stocks in my portfolio. Can you recommend a mix that are reasonably valued and have a good outlook? Dirtt environmental is really looking good to me but I feel as if I would be chasing at this point.

Q: I just read on line (Google when can the additional money be put into tfsa) the cra will not penalize anyone who makes a contribution as of today of $4500. Even though it has not been approved by parliament the cra considers it approved as of budget date yesterday. So I plan on adding $4500 today.

Q: Hello,

I have PHM for a year now and did very well. I was wondering if it's a good trade to sell some and buy Convalo or to buy more PHM or maybe buy more of both?

The health care sector is super hot now, I would say similar with energy one year ago. How would one "see" if the sentiment changes and not be caught overloaded?

Q: Hi 5i,
While it may be a bit premature, my question is: at what point can we use the increased TFSA limit? I have tried looking for this information but haven't found anything concrete to indicate exactly when it is safe to make the additional contribution. As we know, there is a consequence for over-contributing and the term "immediately" used in the budget might not really mean "immediately" from a practical point of view. Can you or the members offer any clarification?

Q: The post is reporting that they are investigating biker boss buying $10,000 worth of stock ahead of the deal. Really? Who cares? I am sure many of us bought more than $10,000. All you had to do was look at the weird trading activity. Looks the me like a non issue and souds totally ridiculous like grasping at straws to find something against amaya and to sell newspapers. Probably a great buying opportunity?

Q: i have held axp for a number of years and added some more this year. It appears weak these days, making it tempting to add more. As a cardholder, it is by far my favourite card to have. Q: Hi there,

I worked in the government for 15 years and I am 41 years old. I am eligible to get a transfer value for my service which would be roughly 250k within RRSP limits and 250K outside RRSP limits (or) I can collect an indexed pension pension of approx $2600 (todays value) at age 60. I did the calculation and I find that if I make about 7% I am better off than the pension plan taking the transfer value..Please give your opinion on this. Is this doable? If I do end up taking the transfer value can you suggest how I should invest it? I have a period of 20 years before I can withdraw from it. Would it be appropriate if I invest a portion of it by mirroring your model and divident portfolio? What should I do for international allocation? US allocation? Are there some investments which I can make which are not very market dependant? This is very important for me and I value your opinions.
