Q: I'm wondering what an A+ company would look like. Would it look something like Disney DIS.US?

Q: Hi 5i team,
All my GICs mature in July and August. They make up <5% of my overall portfolio. Rates are very low (typically 1 year: 1.3%, 5 year 2.0%). There is even talk of a further interest rate cut in Canada.
Should I just split the cash 20% for each of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 year terms, or do you have a better strategy in the current interest rate environment?
Paul J.

Q: Hello,
Peter recently made Intertain a top pick and by all accounts the outlook seems to be pretty positive. Can you point to any reasons for the recent modest decline or is just some profit taking and a good buying opportunity? Thanks!

Q: Hi there,
With Avigilon back in the $17 range would you suggest initiating a new position? Any insight on how its next few quarters are shaping up?

Q: Just an FYI, I think your the month end P&L for the portfolio coverage PDF needs to be split adjusted for GIL and MG (maybe others as well I'm not sure). It's showing negative returns where these stocks have been going up.
Q: Hi Peter. Thanks again for a wonderful coumn in the National Post, Saturday July 4th. The 5th thing you point that investors should know but don't is that Dividend growth stocks beat everything else. Sound advice. If you were recommending to a 50 year old, the 10 top dividend growers, what would they be today. I know I would find this helpful, and perhaps others would too. Many thanks for the terrific and useful service.
Q: Reits are now just 4.25% of our portfolio, with a full position in cuf.un and a 3/4 position in cwt.un. I'd like to add one more for income. Can I have your opinion on Milestone- mst.un, Artis- ax,un and hr.un. Thanks, Ted
Q: What hedge fund would you recommend. My take is they protect on the downside as well as providing opportunity on the upside. Is this correct, if so sounds like a place I want to be. Thanks for your help.
Q: Please advise five or more dividend growth stocks you would recommend at this time. Thank you, Barrie

Hi Peter :
Can you please explain the strange trading pattern for BIP.UN Brookfield Infrastructure Partners all day Friday. The whole day there was a ceiling price of exactly $56.00 with volume over 41,000 shares. It is almost as though someone had an unlimited supply of shares on offer at that price.
Could it have anything to do with the bid for Asciano in Australia? What is your opinion of BIP now?
Regards....... Paul K

Q: I am trying to make sense of the latest insider trading report on SGY. It appears that large numbers of warrants owned by insiders expired unexercised on July 2. Is this correct? Does it mean the warrants were under water?
Q: What is your opinion on Hudson Bay Company? Is there more potential as a real estate play as opposed to its retail stores?
Q: BAXTER (BAX.us)just spun half of itself under the name BAXALTA (BXLT.us). Is BXLT worth keeping? BXLT dropped significantly on its first day after spin off (July 1) and continues its descent today. Some of this might be market related. One often sees a company spin off the bad parts of itself. Would you tend to believe that that is the case here ? On BAX itself , in December 2014 your advice on old-BAX implied that it was not too shabby a company (I am paraphrasing and hope I interpreted correctly). Do you have the same view of BAX as the one you expressed 6 months ago?
Q: is there any way to minimize your pain on a bad move made in a tfsa. i bought bxe for 9.14 in spring of 2014, was pleased when it went up to 11. in summer, and now i'm crushed at less than $3

Q: I wonder if the sum of your report card categories for PM reflect your overall opinion of the company. Your report has 12 categories and PM received 83% of A, 33 % of B and 17% C. Yet, It's overall rating is C+. Does this suggest that some categories should be weighted or do you need more categories or maybe C+ is too severe? ...Sleepless in Niagara
Q: This one seems to me to fit the bill of investment in a good sector, investing in the U.S (supposedly a good place for the foreseeable future) and also taking advantage of US $ rising/ Cdn $ sinking. My finger is poised over the 'buy' button waiting for your advice. Thx, Art
