Q: Hi Peter & 5i: I’m interested in knowing more about the execution of corporate share “buy-backs.” I know that there is no obligation for the company to actually purchase that goes along with the permission to do so and the announcement of the maximum that could be bought/spent. I also know that you usually can’t find out about any actual buying until at least the next following quarterly report. But how does it work behind the scenes? Can companies have direct access to the exchange or do they have to buy back the shares through a brokerage of some kind? What kind of transaction fees are they looking at paying to execute the buyback – is it a per transaction item or would it be structured otherwise? Are there any “usual strategies” that are employed in making the buys – e.g. putting a floor under the stock or maybe waiting until a large block is offered for sale at an acceptable price? Often the potential size of the buyback is many times the average daily trading volume. Are there strategies for dealing with that obstacle if the company does want to max out its buyback potential? Thanks for any insight!
Q: What are your thoughts on ECA. It has a 4% yield andRoyal has a "Sector Perform" with a 1 year 32% return.
Q: Hi 5i Team,
I've read your previous comments on EMA regarding the stability of the company and the safety of the dividend. I noticed the stock did not react favourably (or react at all) to EMA's announcement of their purchase of 3 New England power plants from Capitol Power. What is your take on this purchase, and what will it do for EMA's bottom line?

Q: Your opinion on OSF.UN as an income stock.
Q: DCI
There is a torontoguy1972 who has been posting on Stockhouse.com DCI forum for a few months. He is neither long or short DCI but very knowledgeable on ATM machine business. DCI's Canadian business is facing stiff competition from smaller low cost operators, invest in Australia and Mexico to compensate for Canadian business decline but may be having some problems there as well.

Q: In March you accurately stated Enerplus(ERF) would return to $18...Thank You! Do you still see more upside from here? If not what would you recommend without regard to any particular sector.
Thank you
Thank you

Q: Do you think it is a good time to buy NPR.UN-T or should I stay out of REITS?
Q: Hello.
About gluskin sheff paying a special dividend of 1.4 a share.
Does that not mean that the value of the sp should be higher by that amount? Why is it actually going down?
If I buy now,do I get the special dividend, but will the sp drop by that amount after?

Q: Hi Peter and the 5I Team
Could I please have your opinion on VNR. It can come down lately and pays a good dividend. Is the current dividend safe?

Q: Morning: Evaluating TCN. As usual, would appreciate your expert & incisive opinion.
Q: Hi Peter.
Things are going well for this company so far, except for the technical difficulties experienced on their last well. Would you say that the market reaction has been overdone on the sell side and would one add to one's position at this point. Seems to be speculation that CNE could be taken over by Pacific Rubiales in 2014. What are your thoughts on this and where do you see the stock price a year from now. Thank you and have a good day.

Q: Any thoughts as to why DCI ( Direct Cash ) has been dropping lately......looked at the releases and aside from A$ weakness can't see anything too untoward....
Q: I hold ZRE in my non-registered account and it has taken a hit recently which I am ok with as I primarily purchased it for its healthy yield (5% plus). With an improving economy I would have expected some increase in the monthly payout and that has not happened. Would you expect the REIT industry will be increasing payouts in the near future or should I sell now to avoid further price deterioration as interest rates slowly increase. I already hold lots of interest rate sensitive stocks by way of utilities and pipelines. I note that you recommend H&R which has increased it's payout. Would this be a good switch.
Q: What is a "capital pool company conversion", in relation to the IFA question. Is this like an IPO of sorts?
Q: Hi Peter and the 5I team
I have been following a company with the ticker IFA. Would ever consider a company like this for your Model Portfolio?
Thanks
