Q: Good afternoon.
I hold a +/-2% position of Westshore in a RIFF. It trades cyclically and generally in a range $20-$30, which I occasionally trade around. It seemed headed to the $30 range since the start of this year, until today when it dropped over 5% on much larger than normal volume.
Do you have any insight into what this was a result of? It happens unpredictably and infrequently.
Thanks,
Dave

Q: Hello,
I like to ask for a overview of this company and would it be good addition to a
dividend portfolio? is there any major headwind, especially with the growing trend of deglobalization?

Westshore Terminals Investment Corporation (WTE $35.54)
Q: Am retired so my cash portfolio is full of banks, utilities, Brookfield cos, etc.. No materials , so looking at dipping my toe into this sector with either LIF or WTE. Re LIF : the metrics for iron ore are good ,China slowdown negative, US infrastructure program positive ?
Re WTE : Jimmy Patterson a strong shareholder , well run operator, moving more potash, less coal through its terminal ?
What is your opinion on these two companies ?
Balance sheet strength ? Would you recommend one over the other , both or neither for my purpose ? Thanks. Derek

Q: I would appreciate your take on WTE please. It is trading today at $23.02, off a 52 week low of $21.59. Dividend appears solid and diversification of customers/product ongoing. The stock has been downgraded to hold by a number of analysts. While there is a recession sensitivity, the dividend and a "target" valuation of +/- $33 is appealing over a 3-5 year hold time frame. Again, thanks for your work and insights.
Q: Why do you think that WTE's stock price is under so much pressure?
Thanks as always for your insight.
Thanks as always for your insight.
Q: Just read in the Globe and Mail that Jim Pattison bought an additional stake in WTE, costing him $9.4 million loonies. This caught my eye, aka attention...what does he see about the future of WTE? Me, wondering if it would be a good dividend investment going forward for the portfolio of income stocks. Keen to get 5iR's take.......Many thanks......Tom

Q: I have very little exposure to staples and industrials in my portfolio, which is mainly composed of ETFs. What do you think of these companies, which are all rated outperform by RBC? Is KPT a good proxy for staples? If not, what would you suggest? Please rate the other three in the industrials category in order of preference. Thank you.
Q: With severe weather causing a backlog of ships in Vancouver, one might expect WTE's shares to soon dip and present a good buying opportunity. What do you think? Apart from WTE, are there other shipping/port stocks worth considering?
Q: What are your current thoughts on WTE? Thank you as always.

Q: Hi Guys
Do you guys see value in Westshore Terminals at this price? . I"am down 27% on this stock. Is the correct thing to do is sell it at this point for a tax loss? . I'm always scared of selling losers in case the stock pops after i sell it.
Thanks Gord
