Q: Hello Peter,
Thanks for your prompt replies and expert advice. I was listening to BNN last night, and interesting points were made. I have two questions:When companies buy back stock, the EPS goes up which is good for the stock; however, does it not reduce the book value. I was looking at CNR and the stock is trading over 4 times book. If this is the case, how is it that CNR keeps ticking higher (is it because it has a high barrier to entry and investors feel there is safety in the stock). Second question that came up is that the bank stocks have not hit a top. What metric would suggest a top in the banks? Is it if the PE goes over 15? Thanks again

Q: I own PWT PennWest petroleum bought it for a turnaround and management Rick George.
News this morning not good ie accounting irregularities. Those words always make me cringe.
The only comfort is that the company itself has found these irregularities and not outside accountants.
But they say their debt covenants are at risk. Sell right one at the open or don't panic and wait for the review. Where there is one cockroach there are usually more but I am inclined to give PWT some slack. What do you think with all your experience? Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter and Team, regarding Macro Enterprises, MCR, do you see an up-tick in share volume over recent week(s)? Good or not so good? Any rumours? Thanks!
Q: Is this a bad time of the year for auto stocks? ACQ continues to move downward, as does LNR while MG is basically drifting.
Q: A year or so ago, you mentioned that LAS.A on T was on your to-do list. Just wondering if it is nearing the top of list and if you still expect to cover the name. I think you also may have said the same about ADW.A. And so will that be covered in the future? What would your "back of the napkin" rating by on these 2?
As a suggestion, have you given some thought to publishing a "here are the next 5 (or 1 or 10 or whatever) names we will be covering list" so that someone contemplating those names might wait for the reports. Just a thought.
Rick

Q: Hi Peter and Team,
I hold US stocks and US ETF in a US trading account with TD Waterhouse (100k). Could you clarify to me if I will be liable to pay US estate taxes to the IRS or if I have any special reporting requirement.
IF so is it better to buy only ETFs issued in Canada of US indexes.
Any other alternatives?
Regards.

Q: Hi Sir, My question is about Exchange Income Fund [EIF]. This stock has taken a huge fall from +-$32 to +-$19. Are you aware of any problems and is the dividend safe? Thx Colin
Q: Hi,
At the Money Show 2014 Randy Cass and Peter Hodson, the master of ceremonies, were promoting the average investor to go it on their own. Forget paying fee's to fund managers. I have bought stocks that are high on 5i's recommendation list: ACQ, BAD, and CSU, and have lost a bundle of money. Also on that list were AYA, SYS, and CF, which I should have bought, and then I would have made a bundle of money. As luck would have it, I picked the wrong three. Would you be able to bring to the forefront the ones with the most upside potential?
Thanks,
Dennis

Q: I was looking for some more detail on your double down approach. My position in AYA has increased from 7%, to now 14% of my portfolio. I am ok with the risk of having a very concreated position as i regularly have positions over 10%. My question is what would you use as a trigger to purchase more AYA, or would you just let the market price increase and increase the position. Would you wait for a 25% gain and then by more or some other approach. As always great service.
