Q: Hello 5i team,
I have some losses in surge energy ( as many do, i imagine) and was thinking of using it for tax loss selling. I was wondering what company you think might be roughly equivelent that i might replace it with?

Q: Peter and Team,

This is sort of a follow up to a question I had yesterday regarding finding shorter term or floating rate bond instruments in which to invest. Ideally, I'd get a product that didn't get creamed by rising rates and paid me a good yield.

What are your thoughts on O'Leary's Floating Rate Income Fund OFR.UN?

Prior to subscribing to 5i I got this recommendation and or suggestion from BNN. It did not take long for me to go underwater for some reason. What ever MER there is on this, is all on top of my losses. Is there anything good about this holding, should I keep them for the long term. My age is becoming a factor now. It is starting to look that some of these suggestions and recommendations go short after a bit. Is this all my imaginations or is there something to it?

Q: Symbility signed a Master service agreement yesterday. In your experince, do contracts such as this lead to a large increase in sales overtime.

Q: Could you please give me your opinion on Elkwater, the strength of its balance sheet and its ability to grow production profitably with low energy prices. Do you have knowledge of where their properties are located and what price of oil would be necessary to keep the production going.
My current sector allocation is 9%. Do you think it is a good one to take a flyer on? The share price has gone down quite a bit and don't they have cash more than the company's current valuation? I would very much appreciate your thoughts.

yes another energy question and this time on MEG who very recently revised their outlook for the remainder of 2014 & all of 2015. TD research seems very
happy about the new outlook and has a 12 month target of $35. can you look at the revisions and express an opinion for those of us that currently own MEG. thanx NORM

Q: Do you reckon that AGF.B actions will help its share price in the long-term i.e.dividend cut from $0.27 to $0.08 for 2015 plus the Company intends to file to renew its share buyback program when the current program expires in February 2015.
I have been holding it for its dividend but now I am wondering whether I should bail out.
Price even lower today, after dividend cut announcement.

Q: Holy crow, MCR is going lower than I ever thought it would... so far,$1.65 today with no bottom in sight. I certainly feel foolish purchasing it at $6.30 last year. Have I missed some news? Is it time to get whatever nickels I can get from it now?

Q: I am retired and setting up our TFSA's (wife & I) for a stream of tax free income.We max contribute every year and are currenly overweight energy-27%, reits-23%,piplines-23%: underweight utilities-7%,industrials-7%, financials& others-0%. What are your thoughts on the recent swoon in the price of CP which I hold at a loss in a registered account? Is it all oil related or is something else going on? What are your thoughts on the valuation now and how would you compare it with CNR which has not declined to the same extent?

Q: I can see no reason for the drop in price - I know the company has most assets in the west but I cannot believe they are going to lose much because of falling oil. What is your opinion of the company
