Q: Thanks for the July 30 answer to Darcy on AYA. One additional question for Clarity on your answer. You indicated that a 20 to 30% positions becomes a portfolio bet on one company. I understand this concept, but doesn't a double down strategy by definition mean you will have positions greater than 30%, or do you always limit portfolio positions to a certain maximum even in you double down approach? Great Service, you have greatly changed my investing success.
Q: Hi Peter/Team... can you please comment on CDI+BNK both of these stocks are off about 12% in the last month. Should I hold or take the loss ? Hi Peter & Team,
First Service Corp reported very good result, I got small postion of it, what do you think of it's future growth. I am thinking to add some position, should I do it now or wait until it pulls back a bit.
Thank you,
Pui
I'm looking for an industrial stock to add to my portfolio. I currently own CCL.B and SJ, but I'd like to add a third stock in this sector? Do you have recommendations?
I also wanted your opinion on Chartwell Retirement REIT. I currently own 3 REITS (Riocan, H&R and Chartwell), but I was thinking of selling Chartwell and buying Boardwalk for a bit more growth.
Q: After this most recent pop, and heeding Peter/5i's repeated advice (thank you !) of keeping reasonable percentages on individual stocks, for the 2nd time, I sold some AYA in our diversified (thank you, again, for emphasizing this!) - growth oriented portfolios. I expect shortly to be doing the same with DHX. I don't know if you can come up with another one or two 'out of the park' hits, but would appreciate any recommendations that you feel might have similar potential for re-investing these profits.
I will happily be making a 2nd contribution to your charity ride and wish you safe travelling.
Q: Hello Peter and Team,
I am looking to add a little punch to the Energy sector of an otherwise diversified portfolio. Energy currently makes up almost 20%, so I am not looking to add, but to hopefully refine. I am considering a swap of Surge (SGY) for Vermillion (VET). I like them both, but am leaning towards the income feature of Surge as well as the continuation of good results as was indicated in the last Q report. Could I have your thoughts to this?
Q: Hi Peter & company. Great job! We have recently sold all of our U.S. stocks because we were scared off due to the recent tax laws changes with respect to people with dual citizenship (US and other country). We don't have dual citizenship but this new tax is quite significant for those affected and the U.S. government seems to need to increase tax revenue. Do you think we were over cautious?
Q: Hi
I purchased Spur Venture's, SVU, sometime ago and would like to get your thoughts on their transformation from fertilizer to gold company as they look to purchase another company in the coming days? It seems they have a strategy in place and would like to your thoughts on the company and property they're acquiring?
Q: HORIZONS ENHANCED INCOME GOLD PRODUCERS ETF COMMON(HEP:TSX, CA), can you please explain the high dividend to me and whether it is safe. Would you recommend this ETF? Or another way to play gold? Would you maybe prefer GDX in NYSE?
Q: Hello,
I have been slowing adding stocks from the model and income portfolios over the last 3 months. I currently own G,DHX,BAD,SGY,ESL,SLF,DSG & SJ. All with 5K original investments. I now have another 15K to invest. Should I buy more shares of the stocks that are down that I currently own (BAD&SJ) or add new positions? If new what stocks would fit best?
Many thanks
Luke
Q: Good afternoon,
I'm setting up a TFSA for my daughter who turns 18 next week. I plan on contributing the max $5500 at that time, and would like your suggestion on what to purchase. Ideally, I'd like this money to be available to her in 4-5 years for a downpayment on a house, so safety is important as well as equity appreciation (without a crazy amount of risk).
Thanks!
By the way, I'll likely be contributing $5500 each year for the first 4-5 years.
Q: Hi Team, Just wondering if it would be possible for you to put the full name of the company in instead of just the stock symbol if the person asking the question hasn't done so. When one does not know the market too well it takes a lot of time to look them all up but I assume you already know most of them. Thank you so much for all your information
