Q: Hello Peter
The recent stock prices decline has given me an idea to open new portfolio "an exceptionally concentrated portfolio" that I found idea in your 5i Research Blog from July 20,2014.
Please give to me your 5 best at this time candidates for this type of portfolio that one can double down on them.

Q: It looks like chances of energy stocks coming back in a few months are very low,do you agree?.Gold stocks have perhaps bottom out,which gold stocks are worth buying after gold corp.Is kinros at $3.00 a buy?.

Q: What do you think about a RME and CVL vs ACQ for a long term BUY (5yrs)?

ACQ is roughly UP 40% on a YEAR CHART vs RME & CVL DOWN roughly 20%.

I have looked at basic ratios.

P/E RME 14%, CVL 14% ACQ 30%
YIELD RME 4.1% CVL 4.5% ACQ 1.5%
PAYOUT RME 54% CVL 77% ACQ 44%
GR MARGINRME 13.8% CVL 18% ACQ 17%
ROE RME 9.27% CVL 9% ACQ 21%
DEBT/EQ RME 24% CVL 38% ACQ 141%

To me looks like AGRI is the low side of a cycle and why it is a laggard right now compared to increasing high cars sales in Canada.

Can you give me your thoughts on RME and CVL vs ACQ?

Q: Which one would be your preferred choice in the restaurant casual dining space, Boston Pizza or A&W? It looks like the cash flow is not covering the A&W dividend.

Q: I'm fairly well diversified with your model portfolio stocks but I do take on some fliers for some spice. I see you occasionally sell down on stocks that go up and buy up on stocks that are down. I think you do this for companies that you rate as good investments only. My question is does this strategy apply to more speculative stocks as well. I guess in my mind I view these speculative ventures as a partitioned subset of my portfolio. For example I'm well up with Concordia CXR but I'm down with Questor QST, Enterprise ESI and C-Com CMI. Should I sell some CXR and buy some of the others? Or should I just leave these all alone as speculative ventures that were one time good ideas and sell when I think I've had enough keeping in mind reasonable weighting.

Q: Will the injunction the judge issued in new jersey to stop legalized betting that was supposed to start this weekend affect amaya shares this coming week. Dave

Q: To what degree do you expect tax loss selling to impact these stocks in the next 6 weeks: Enterprise Group, Surge and Auto Canada.
Also, I noticed a few stocks (EH and ACQ to name two) that had a great year in 2013 and had a significant selloff in January 2014. Is there such a phenomenon as tax gain selling, where investors hang on until a new year to defer capital gains for a year. If so, do you recommend waiting on some of the years big gainers as late January may represent a better entry point.

Q: This is a 2 part portfolio editing question:
1. I hold BDT as well as STN and WSP. Should I hold all 3 or sell BDT and split the funds between STN and WSP?
2. I hold CHW and have a paper loss on it as I do with AVO and ACQ. Thinking several years up the road, would I be better off selling CHW and re-investing in AVO and ACQ, both of which you appear to like; or simply hang on to CHW?
