Q: Does Linamar (lnr) get hurt by the declining Canadian dollar? Are its sales more tied to the Canadian economy than the sales of Magna's or Martinrea's?

Trying to uncover if there is any other reason for Linamar's short-term underperformance other than the regular ups and downs of the market.

Q: Hi there,

I have read that Slyce may be a few quarters or a few big announcements away from doing anything positive but am still surprised at the huge drop today after holding on for a long time in the mid .40's. Any news here or do you think it was just someone deciding to exit a large position that drove it down?

Q: Can you please comment on FFH series C Pref. The last 2 dividend payments the Pref. paid out was less than the previous 20 dividend payments dating back to Dec. 2009. I did not see any news release stating the Board of Directors voted to reduce the dividend. If their was a news release would management have stated WHY they cut the dividend ? Would we have received something in the mail ? The share price closed at $19.40 today,down significantly from the $25 issue price. I thought the dividends on prefs are pretty much a safe thing.

Q: Since my buy in May, 2013 ZPR is down 23% and continues to get beaten down as interest rates fall. Assuming the Bank of Canada reverses direction in response to the expected rise in US interest rates, is this a good entry point for ZPR as a long term hold?

Q: Hi Peter and Staff I hold a small position in MIC and have felt stock would go up when rates they charged went up. I have stayed away from fund managers fearing fee disclosure would affect them. Q: Hi 5i,
Are there any other companies in Canada that fly under the radar you can think of that provide a "boring" or niche product/service such as ccl, gil, sj, mda? Im looking at buying mda or gil but I don't want to pay to high of a valuation.

Q: With the pullback in the price of WEF today and with an improving US housing market and lower CAD, would you view this as a buying opportunity or should one wait until WEF reports earnings? WEF's last earnings report was quite good.

Q: Hi 5i advisory team. I already have WCP and am thinking of adding to the sector as it is pretty beaten up. Which one would you add between CPG and ARX? Q: In the Globe on Fri., July 17 a writer was commenting on the Orange Balanced Growth Fund & seemed to like its low mer of 1.07%,its diversification with 25% of the fund in Cdn. stocks, 25% in Cdn. bonds, 25% in Us stocks & 25% in international stocks. Is this good for a young person with a 25+ year horizon or would it be better for an older couple with a TFSA. Both the young person & the older couple know very little about the investment world.Thanks as always.

Q: This question dates some years back but it still bothers me: why did not a single money manager, commentator, etc. ever express any reservations about Manulife before the stock crashed big time? They all said it was marvellous, solid, excellent management, etc. Did noone really have any idea of its problems? It's left me mistrustful ever since.
