Q: For a retired person looking for a solid income stream would a laddered bond fund like CLF or CBO be a sound investment as part, say 5%, of an overall portfolio? Thanks and keep up the great work.

Q: With the March 21 budget mention of Canadian banking "bail in".http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2013/04/02/f-rfa-macdonald-canada-cyprus-banks.html. It appears that if my bank gets into financial difficulty it has the right to seize my assets (cash).
The Big 5 banks also control brokerage firms in which I have all my assets (stocks, RSP, TFSA, etc). If the bank did get into difficulty would my above assets be at risk. Further to this what independent brokerages are there that would not subject me to this and also offer online trading?
Look forward to your response as this as you can appreciate is becoming a major concern for me.
Regards,
S

Q: Hello Peter,
Gold Canyon Resources (GCU) has had a precipitous decline over the last year, along with many of the juniors in the resource sector, despite what appears to be a very promising gold deposit in Ontario. The recently released a Preliminary Economic Assessment on March 25. What do you think of this company? Buy, Hold, Sell? Thanks.

Q: Hi, I have a question regarding investment strategy. I heard that you shouldn't invest more than 5% in any stock and I also herd that you should only hold about 5 to 7 quality stocks. That accounts for 35% or my portfolio. My question is...what do I do with the other 65% of my portfolio? Should I be investing that portion or is it better to leave it. This way I won't lose any money on this amount.
Thanks
