Q: Hi 5i,
I've heard that U.S. regional banks (NOT the big boys who gave us 2008) have good potential for growth vis a vis other North American financials. 1. Do you agree? 2. If yes, do you have any individual names that come to mind? 3. Are there any ETFs that are heavily weighted toward U.S. regional banks?
Thank you for your comments and hope the trip is going well.

Q: When a company removes its land holdings to form a separate REIT

Q: Peter and team,
Love your latest post on the Mutual Fund industry. So the big question is when will company defined contribution plans, like the ones managed by Standard Life etc. be forced to offer a wider range of investment products (including ETSs) that allow the employee to reduce the fees associated with their plans. In many, you just have a choice of a basket of MFs all with high MERS. This has been going on for years and employees have little or no choice if they want to participate and contribute to these plans and get the employer match. Sounds like some activism is needed!

Q: Peter and Team,
Can you please talk to Petrowest and Macro Enterprises with the aim of investing in LNG infrastructure? Also, wouldn't Stantec benefit from the same developments?
Thanks!

Q: Hi Peter,
I purchased some resource/energy names a few years ago (POT/NML/PXX/RNX) they are all down across the board. At this juncture would you suggest I hold these names and wait for a turn or sell at a loss and move into the model portfolio that you put together? Thank-you.

Q: I have been looking at Sunopta (soy)and the last time you talk about it was in December of last year. Do you have a different view today?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Hi Peter. I am seeking some advice relating to the energy portion of my portfolio. Ideally, I would like about 10% of my portfolio in two energy stocks. Currently, I have Chevron (CVX) in a taxable account (4.0% of the portfolio) and in registered accounts I hold eca, cve, and cpg at 1.4%, 1.6%, and 3.8% of the portfolio, respectively. I have unrealized capital gains on my chevron holdings. I am interested in your views on what two energy stocks I should own for a 3-5 year period. Thanks.
Q: Hi 5i, my question is regarding (ESL) Enghouse. they had a news release yesterday regarding a purchase of a German co. what are your thoughts on this purchase , please elaborate if possible. also ,unless my info is not correct, ESL had massive insider share sales in the last year. over 10 million, normally is this not a red flag ? thanx norm
Q: I'm looking RSI as a dividend stock. One hesitation is the equity situation that has been declining. is this a significant concern? On the positive side, the technicals indicate it may be a good time to buy. Thoughts?
Q: ACD accord financial, roe of 14, good dividend growth, reasonable p/b of 1.4 seems like a great value stock. Your thoughts? Thanks
Q: Hello Peter and the 5I team
What are your thoughts on POT?

Q: You haven't commented on Manitoba Telecom since May. After the markets closed, the Federal Government announced the outright rejection of MBT's sale of Allstream. When this deal was first announced, MBT's stock jumped considerably. It has since given up these gains. Tomorrow morning the stock will probably plummet. Any idea of a floor?.... ie: what is the fair value for this telecom? Should investors abandon telecom stocks until the Fed gets its act together and stops its indiscriminate meddling with the rules? Many thanks!
Q: Can i get your opinion on ZDJ. Would like to buy a DOW index if there is a major dip but not sure ZDJ is liquid enough. Maybe there is an alternate ETF. Thanks
Q: Hi Peter and Team,
Another question about EIF. I'm presently enrolled in their DRIP which gives a 'nice' 5% discount. However, the rapid decline in share price, and today's press release is giving me cause for concern. Wondering if I should immediately cancel the DRIP, and continue to monitor EIF with the idea of pulling out completely. Some dividend aristocrat:(

Q: 5i Team,
In a previous question, you advised that good portfolio diversification should include 65% Cdn equities, 25% US equities, and 10% global equities. Right now I am severally underweight in global equities, with a 3.5% holding in Emerging Markets PIE-N, and that’s it. I’m looking at topping up to your recommended 10% level with other ETFs, but don’t know what to buy? I’m relatively young and willing to move up the risk curve to get higher returns, what would you suggest? I’m thinking one ETF that tracks Mexico @ 3.5% weighting, and one for Japan @ 3.5% weighting, perhaps? Or should I be looking at Europe? Or just go at a full 10% with PIE-N or some other Global ETF??? Oh the choices….

Q: Could you comment on the info released by Exchange Income fund, EIF?
Q: EIF? Good Morning Folks. I own 1000 shares for RRIF DISTRIBUTION. And not sure what to make of the press announcement. Does it ring true to you? Never know when we are being sold a bil of goods. Are you comfortable with management? Should I move on (never just one cockroach) or average down for the yield? Help!
