Q: Hello Peter and Staff
I own some BADger, and it is disconcerting to see it drop on a daily basis, with heavy selling volume. I am concerned that my purchase was made when growth mode changed to a Stop mode. One does wonder about underlying rumours etc. If I were to sell, it would not be pretty, if I hold, would it be reasonable to expect recovery in the short to medium term or is one looking way down the road. Thanks as always for your learned advice.
Q: Peter,
Catching up on my 5i questions and answers, I noticed that both Bill & Gord commented favourably on your dislike of target prices. It reminded me that Ross Healey was a guest on BNN last week. When asked by a caller about Badger(Bad) dropping in price, he stated it was over-priced and predicted it would drop to $18 to $20. Would you care to comment on that or is it a good example of being beware of target prices?

In the context of a fairly diversified portfolio, I am considering selling either Newalta or Western Forest Products to pick up Questor. Would you sell one of these two or just hang on to them instead of starting the new position? I am looking for a bit more 'umph' to grow my TFSA.
Q: Canaccord traded in the $25 range in 2006 and 2007. Do you think it has the potential to reach this point once again given time? Also what were the circumstances of those past years that caused the stock to trade at that level? Thanks, J.
Q: Hi Peter,
I purchased Stella Jones last November, thinking it was a solid performer. Nine months later it's hovering around the same price I purchased it at. I know it's having supply issues as of late, but what was going on before? And how confident are you in the future of this company? How much risk do you see?
Thanks!!!
Q: I currently own equal weightings of CN, Gibson Energy, IPL and Telus in my RRSP. I am selling a stock worth 5500 and would like to add the proceeds to one of these 4 stocks. Which stock do you recommend? Thank you for your insight.
apparently the market loved what CSU reported... after your earlier answer, up 7.18% on the day... impressive especially considering the market in general. Anything you can comment on regarding the big gain?
Q: There is a report out today by Veritas who has placed Avigilon on its "accounting watch list"and besides the departure of Bradley Bardua there is reference to aggressive revenue recognition. Do you have any comment and should an investor be concerned?
I currently own Black Diamond Group and I am looking to switch into First Service Corp. For a 2-3 year time frame, without considering sector diversification, would you see more upside potential with First Service or Black Diamond Group? Both are in very different industries and are both in your model portfolio, with similar ratings, B and B+ respectively. First Service seems to have stock momentum at the moment whereas Black Diamond has been on a downtrend.
Q: Peter and team:
Re HCG
Many people feel housing market is overvalued (due for correction) and interest rates are likely to rise modestly in the coming year or two. How may these factors effect HCG's business model and subsequently share price?
Q: A company I have been very happy with (WFI.TSX) looks like it will be bought out and I am selling it. I am looking to replace it in my portfolio. Brookfield Rebewable (BEP.UN) looks like a good fit with its dividend but the current portfolio report is dated to September of last year. Is 5i still considering this an 'A' rated company.
Q: I was reading some information about Avigilon (AVO) a few days ago. Apparently, Veritas suggests some issues that could affect AVO are channel stuffing (something to do with collaboration between AVO and its channel intermediaries) and early revenue recognition. Veritas also was concerned about uncommon auditor review practices. As a consequence to its review they are suggesting caution. It seems to me that these are probably consequences of a fast growing company rather than something I should be particularly concerned about; however, the frequency I get burnt by trusting my instincts is too high so wished to get your valued opinion. Thank you
Q: With the big drop in HNL (Horizon North) and relatively smaller drop in BDI (Black Diamond), which stock would you pick for the the most capital gain potential (in the next 1-2 years) and why.
Would you buy at todays prices or wait until the dust settles on these stocks. Thanks!
Questor (QST) down 33% over the last month. Do you consider the current price a good entry point? or should one wait until price stabilizes? I have a long term position in mind.
(Understood that it is a high risk holding.)
