Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Ok, I know you do not really like trades, but what do you think about picking up some shares of Air Transat now and holding them until May/June and taking advantage of the winter busy season. It has worked in the past, a few times really well, others not as well but always made money. This is pretty speculative, and would be for the mad money part of my investments.
Thanks for your opinion.

Q: The markets have been quite strong the last few days, yet WSP is not participating. Today, for example, the stock was down while the market was up nicely. My concern is, if the stock is weak in a strong market, what happens when the market comes back down. For some reason, my impression is that this company is not well liked by investors. Any idea why and what might turn this around?

Q: What do you think of the current valuation of Mitel, its offer to purchase Shore Tel and its growth prospects over the next 3-5 years. Is it a buy with that frame in mind?

Thank you,

Q: Hi: one of the speakers at market call at BNN suggested that the POW could spin out some of the core assets to benefit the shareholders, but the other company PWF (power financial) would not benefit from the move. It is a speculation
It would be appreciated if you could explain to the investors like us what is the main differences and advantages of holding PWF vs POW ? I have some shares of PWF, should I switch 50% to POW ? Thanks!

Q: Good Day 5i team,

Hopefully correction is over. Let's hope for positive economic news in Europe and continued growth in the US.

re: LNG and recent announcements... can you please comment on what effects you think the recent "approval" and all it's accompanying baggage (taxation for environment) will have on PRW and other related companies? Bought PRW @ $0.91 and am hoping other 5i members were able to take advantage as well as I think PRW has a very nice ceiling.

Thanks for all you do

Gord

Q: The stock gets slammed the day a court decision goes against it and now the next day it has recouped much of those losses. In a situation like this, do you rely on the "street" to get it right and seemingly ignore the litigation in this case? I had wanted to buy this stock. Or should I just move on to the next one?

Thanks.

Q: After the recent correction most oil and gas companies have recovered to some extent. However Tourmaline continues its downward drift. Is it company related or the outlook for natural gas? A second question if i may - I have some loose change in my RRSP and have been dithering between QST and PRW. Which would you recommend after today's price jump? Thanks

Q: What is your opinion of this stock? It is an Action List Buy according to TD yet it has had significant erosion in stock value regardless of recent correction. Today it was downgraded from Buy to Hold according to Analysts consensus.

Q: They made a recent purchase and issued a fair bit of stock today: will this purchase be a accretive to earnings, what will their debt to equity look like and will the debt servicing limit any dividend increases going forward? I have held this stock for quite a while & with dividends I am up 100%. Not sure whether to sell with this added debt., increased OS shares and high stock valuation?
