Q: I have Canadian oil and gas stock, pipeline, and power company representation. But I can't help thinking solar is an increasing part of the future, and fear I may be holding too much "old technology" investments, even given some of them have a small part of their income in windpower.

What do you think of Solarcity as a way of rounding out my power investments? Would there be an ETF that would capture solar that would be more appropriate?

Q: Hello, can you indicate which three sectors you feel will benefit the most from lower oil prices and why? I am thinking of placing my free capital in the ones you are recommending as I don't see oil prices rising anytime soon. Thank you.

Q: Hi, I have owned NWC for about 5 years. It has come down this year as a result of several poorer quarters. I am considering selling it as I am concerned that another weaker quarter will send it even lower. Firstly, do you think this is a good idea. I also own a half position in ATD.b., bought in January, 2014, and am considering adding to this position if I sell NWC. If you feel this transaction is a good move should I wait for a pullback in ATD.b as it is near the top of its range or would you consider another consumer company instead. I am looking for a long term position in the consumer staples area. Thank you for your assistance. I do appreciate your site and the work you do. Lynda

Q: Hi

I am relatively new to investing and have just come into some money. I am looking to properly diversify my investments, do you think that if i were to only keep the stocks listed in the model portfolio, would that be a good place to start? (Assuming the rest of my investments were in fixed incomes) and if so, do you think that right now would be a good entry point into those stocks? Thanks in advance

Q: Hello, my question is regarding Constantine Metal Res (CEM).i realize it is a highly speculative play. but having said that it appears to be in an envious situation that many juniors would die for. and that is its JV with Dowa Metals & Mining. CEM has the Palmer VMS project and it appears to have a ton a upside exploration potential.could i have your opinion on CEM as a speculative play on the looming zinc shortage. management for CEM seem to be very well qualified and cost conscious, and with regards to Dowa's management they seem very astute and they specialize in Palmer type scenarios.
can i have your opinion on CEM, likes and dislikes, with their JV they should easily survive the next 3 years but i guess its possible that Dowa can pull out . thanx norm

Q: Hi, there are headlines again today about forecast poor demand for oil in 2015. Do you see the next year as a period of protacted pain for Oil stocks, with the best strategy to hold off for a while in buying the sector? Or do you see the headlines as an opportunity to "buy at the time of maximum pessimism", with the best strategy to start buying now and in the next month or two during tax loss season?

Q: Hello - I have the opportunity to pick up a position in this energy IPO. I am conflicted as I think the US dollar will continue to hurt energy companies for the foreseeable future. To offset my bearish view I understand the IPO issue price has been lowered, the secondary offering has been eliminated, and a good chunk will continue to be held by the private issuers.

Would you be able to confirm this information. As a retail investor, I find some IPO information difficult to validate. I seem to always be the last to know.

Would you also provide your thoughts on this IPO.

Keep up the great work. Mike
