Q: Hi 5i,
What am I missing on SYZ? I can't figure out why it is not trading dramatically higher.
Please help me if I am wrong on my assumptions but based on my calculations, starting with the already completed and soon to be reported q4, both revenues and profits over the next year should come very close to tripling from the trailing 12 months. This is based on the disclosure in their last report which stated that the last acquisition if reported pro-rata would have added $28mm and $11mm in top and bottom lines respectively over the trailing 12 months.
Based on this, I can't figure out why the share price is not much, much higher; notwithstanding the gain ytd.
What am i calculating wrong here?
Thanks,
J.

Q: What do you think of GPR? Do you know how much it costs them to produce 1oz of silver? Do you think its a good buy? I'm looking for silver companies that have cash, no debt and are producing at a low cost. GPR seems like a good candidate. Do you have any other recommendations better than GPR? Thanks and Happy Holidays!
Q: All the best of the holiday season to everyone at 5i Research.

And many thanks for your advice! I'm a long term investor looking for reasonable stable growth over five years.
Which of these growth companies would you recommend? Atd.b, CTC, or National Bank at these levels?
Which of these energy companies would you recommend, PPL, BAM, or BEP at these levels?

Q: Happy Holidays! All the best to you and your families! I currently have a 1.5% weighting in Catamaran and would like to slowly bring it to a full position in my portfolio. Do you feel today's price is a good time to start adding? Also, do you have any suggestions for a cyber security stock in Canada or the US, something like PANW? I have long time frame and high tolerance for risk.
Q: Recent news of lawsuit closure. Stock reaction negative. Your opinion.

Q: Hey 5i team
It appears the market was more than happy with the appointment of Mr. Fishman as CEO. Understandable considering the success he had with Teva.
I saw your answer yesterday for Michael when you said "we think it is fine to own for a higher risk investor but there are some speculative risks that need to be taken here."
Also yesterday James Hodgins on Market Call said Mr. Fishman has plans to triple the size of MSL to 100MM plus, it was mentioned the street consensus expects a 65% upside for the stock over the next 12 months.
I am seriously considering a 2% position as I am looking for some good growth opportunities. What I am concerned about is your mentioning "risks" especially considering the stock was at $1.50 mid morning on Friday then $2.00 mid morning earlier today which could be the response to the new CEO. I am also concerned the comments made on Market Call could be to good to be true considering MC guests often come from a promotional standpoint.
Do you think the recent increase isdue to Mr. Fishman' appointment or are there other factors at work here as well? And what do you think about MSL 6 months and 1 year out?
Thanks for all you do and from my Family to Yours, Happy holidays
Gord

Q: 5i Team,
Happy Holidays. I ask this question every other quarter, whenever I am repositioning my portfolio and deploying new cash. Given what has gone on in the energy space, what would be your ideal target sector weightings for a portfolio going into 2015 using these 5i recommended sector classifications, assuming a blank slate:
Capital Goods / Industrials
Consumer Cyclical
Consumer Staples
Retail
Energy
Financials
Health Care
Information Technology
Internet / Software
Materials (Gold, Silver etc.)
Materials (Paper, Chemical, Steels, etc._
Real Estate
Telecommunication Services
Transportation
Utilities
TOTAL = 100%
Risk tolerance is 7.5 out of 10. Assume a market cap portfolio mix of approx. 15%-20% small cap, 35-40% mid cap, 45% large cap.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Q: Hi Peter & Ryan,
Based on your last answer about CF, would you recommend to increase position, eventhough it went down 45% since July 29th'14? Is it the right time or wait for the energy sector to settle down?
Merry Xmas,
Morris

Q: Hi
I would like to initiate a 3 or 4% position (depending on risk) in a company in the Info Tech sector that would complement my other holdings. I currently have CSU and ESL in Info Tech at 4% each. I also have a diversified portfolio of other Canadian equities (ie. Financial 12% (BNS, SLF, HCG) Cons Disc 12% (AYA, DOL, DHX.B) and so on)
My main focus is growth over the long term. Could you make a suggestion?
Thank you and happy holidays
